Eagle Gun Range — Local services in Lewisville

I have been going to Eagle Gun range for a year and half and even have a Membership. Today (4-19-2016) I have never been treated so disrespectful and ugly by the Eagle Gun Range Employees, except for today. As I walked in the range Lucas approached me and asks if I was here before and I answered yes just like the hundreds of times I was there. But I guess Lucas got emasculated when I answered and kept walking to my row. Lucas followed me and started asking more questions and I said yes, and Lucas yelled at me and said look at me while I talked to you, So I turned to look at him and Lucas then starting yelling at me because I was looking at him and walked off when I first saw him as Lucas asked if I have ever been here before. I told Lucas that I have been here a lot and tried to explain and Lucas Yelled at me again and said look at me while I go over the safety rules. So I did and Lucas said what he had to say and then was rude and walked away. I was so distraught at how I was treated I left me handgun fully loaded on the counter and before I knew what was going on Lucas came back to me and yelled at me with this POWER trip look and told me about it. I went on trying to shoot my AK-47 but was so pissed off at how I was treated I left and while I was leaving Lucas looked at me with a sarcastic look and said good bye. I asked him for his name and he gave it to me with this look of like oh I screwed and he's going to say something.

I got to the checkout counter and was so pissed and they asked me what was wrong and I yelled Lucas is a beep. I didn't owe anything as I am a member and they wanted to talk to me but told them I am too pissed right now to talk.

I have never been treat like that at any time at eagle gun range. I go there to relax but with a guy like LUCAS getting off by his power shouldn't be working with people if he is going to be a butt head.

Five stars hands down the staff is very friendly, helpful and safety minded. On my first and only visit here (so far) I didn't throw any lead down range but I did browse a bit. The place is new so everything is clean, and well organized. This particular range is more oriented for pistol shooting but they do allow you to bring rifles as long as they are below 50. caliber. They have quite a large selection of pistols on display aswell as some rifles available for purchase. They have ammunition, cleaning supplies, bags, the whole nine yards;on top of that they do gunsmithing. It's not a superstore, but I was quite impressed at how much they do have, because driving buy the place the building looks pretty small. They have firearms rentals, and even a lounge for the people who don't shoot or who tag along on such a trip. I really wish I had anything to say about the lanes themselves but the real reason for my visit was to have them look at an original (antique) Winchester 1873 32WCF, as this family piece is over a hundred years old I asked them to take a look and see if the barrel was in good enough condition to run rounds through it. After the group of staff behind the counter were done ogling at the rifle's beauty, one of the guys said "I'll take it out to the back so I can look straight down the barrel for you." Not more than five minutes later he comes back, and tells me it's in fantastic condition aside from some rust buildup inside the barrel. He then gave me some advice on how to remove said rust and what products to use; all of witch were in store and on the shelves. After that he gladly let me preview and fiddle with some of the rentals; then I was on my way out the door, but this range will be my go to from now...

Like this place if I'm needing something close to my house.

Pros: They have lots of rental guns, a good selection of guns for sale, and a well ventilated range. The staff has been really nice every time I have visited. On my latest trip I brought a friend who had never fired a pistol before. One of the staff took time to recommend a gun, show him proper loading techniques, and proper grip so that when he got to his Lane he was ready to go. We had a great time.

I've read several people's comments about the RO constantly correcting people, but while we were there (roughly 45 min, taking turns on the same lane) I did not see the RO approach a single person other than to ask new arrivals if they needed anything or to thank people for coming as they were leaving.

The electronic target moving system is fast and easy to use.

Cons: The longest lane is only 25 yards, so shooting a rifle is not overly challenging.

The bench for loading is more of a shelf and if you use their rifle support device there is no space for any of your body to rest. So while the barrel is stationary, your elbows and chest are still moving the rifle a decent amount.

One shot per second is ok, but if you want to practice any drills or prep for a competition you will be approached by a RO in a hurry.

I dont believe they allow holster drawing, so again, no real life scenario practice. That is one of the most useful things to practice. You'll need to be proficient at it if you are ever in a bad situation.

I still like this range quite a lot and plan to return as frequently as I can. But I have started visiting another range that has "big boy" rules, despite the fact that it is twice...
