This place is a scam and I'll highly recommend looking for another boat rental company. During check in the owner Paul was arguing with the young check in worker about paperwork missing and the wrong boats going out. During the "so call" boat inspection, staff worker Will was attempting to speed through the walk around and other important safety details. He mentioned he didn't know where the fire extinguisher was and needed to confirm with management. Later comes back and mentions no one knows and it's ok to leave. During this portion of the "inspection" another Sams platoon boat rental trying to leave, slams directly into our boat (Propeller/motor) area at a decent speed, in which the owner Paul witnessed on the dock. Instead of checking if any of us was OK, nor asking the boat that hit us to dock and rectify this accident, he simply asked one of the guys on that boat to sit while the boat was moving and to carry on. In the meantime, staff member Will was on the boat during the accident glanced at the area that was slammed into and wrote on the inspection report that the Propeller/motor was damaged/scratched. After all this, he instructed we are ok to leave. We had a 3 hour rental and making it back to check out, within a couple minutes, the Manager Shawn ( whom was very reluctant) to provide his name mentions the Propeller was damaged and he charged my card an additional $250.00. Before I could explain, Will (the inspector) informed Shawn our boat was hit in that area, in which Shawn went into defense mode and stated that type of impact from another boat wouldn't caused this damage. Inspector Will, then stated, by the way this is also the same boat that had Propeller damage yesterday in which Shawn gave him a certain look (to hush) and then stated, but we fixed that. I then tried to explain that we simply went out without hitting anything and the damage was likely caused by the accident from another one of there rentals smacking this same Propeller. This is when both the Manager Shawn and Paul got really rude and said the paperwork didn't mention any damage to the Propeller and we already charged your card. This is important because during this entire check out process, I didn't see any sales transaction take place and with the time stamp of this charge, this happened even before someone had the opportunity to post inspect the boat nor clarify to us this bogus charge. I asked Paul for a copy of my contract and also explained to Paul that your staff member Will have a bunch of inconsistencies in his stories in which he told us to leave without a fire extinguisher. Paul immediately got nervous and wanted Will to explain and walked us to the boat, all while arguing with Will about why he let us leave without a fire extinguisher, Paul lifted the seat and there was a fire extinguisher. However, we were not made aware of this prior (Will couldn't find it) and told us we didnt need one and we are ok to leave. After walking to my vehicle, I realized Paul didn't include all the pages to the contract, more specifically the inspection report that acknowledged the damaged Propeller from the accident. I went back to request the entire contract in which Paul stated my contract is very solid and I pay lawyers a high retainer to win cases for me. All in all, im going to weigh my options and wanted to make others aware of the situation that seemed to be staged from the beginning. One last thing on a side note, members of my party witnessed a situation while we were walking up to check in of Paul arguing with another customer allegeding that her dog bit him in which the lady vehemently denied. Members of my party heard Paul rudely tell the lady to either get on the boat with the dog or leave his port. I would encourage if the lady reads this to explain her side of the story. Read moreI recently hosted my birthday celebration with Sam's Dock on the Abigail Rose, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this experience! From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure our special day was absolutely perfect.
Ms. Gina, the dock coordinator, was simply phenomenal throughout the entire process. From our initial planning conversations weeks before the event, she provided clear, helpful guidance and maintained excellent communication every step of the way. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for our celebration made all the difference. When we needed to make a last-minute boat change on the day of the event, Ms. Gina handled everything seamlessly and ensured we were completely taken care of. Her leadership and customer service skills are excellent.
The Abigail Rose was immaculately clean and beautifully maintained - exactly what you want for a milestone celebration. Our captain (whose flexibility and attentiveness made the day extra special) checked on our group regularly to make sure everyone was having a great time and that we had everything we needed. His caring approach and professional demeanor were outstanding. The bartender deserves special recognition as well - our guests couldn't stop raving about the excellent drink service throughout the entire excursion.
What impressed me most was how gracefully the Sam's Dock team handled an unexpected boat switch. Instead of letting it become a problem, they turned it into a smooth transition that allowed our celebration to proceed. Their ability to adapt and ensure customer satisfaction speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence.
Thanks to Ms. Gina's leadership and the incredible crew, we had an absolutely magical day on the water. Our guests are still talking about what a wonderful time they had! The professionalism, cleanliness, and exceptional service transformed my birthday celebration into exactly the memorable experience we had hoped for. I highly recommend working with Ms. Gina, the Abigail Rose, and the entire Sam's...
Read moreWe rented a large pontoon boat for an annual girls trip and had an amazing day! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They met us at the dock and helped us get all of our things onto the boat. Paul instructed us on rules and gave us a lesson on how to operate the boat. He made sure that we felt comfortable before leaving. The boat was amazing with an upper and lower level sun deck. Plenty of covered area to get out of the sun. The weather was perfect and the lake was not crowded with other boaters. When we returned Sean and Paul were there to guide us in and help unload our stuff. We then went to eat and hangout next door at a restaurant called Sneaky Pete’s. It was a perfect day! Thanks...
