I was very upset when I went here today. If I could give zero stars, I would. I found this place using Google, so I called, made sure they accepted my insurance, then booked an appointment. I was excited at first, cause it looked great on the outside, so I thought I was going to be receiving excellent service and I really needed new glasses. The lady who greeted me was nice and so was the lady that gave me the eye exam. I didn't talk to the doctor much to have an opinion of him. It seemed like he was just doing his job and trying to get me in and out because of how many other patients were in the waiting area. They were so overbooked. I waited a little over 40 minutes just to be seen. I got there at 1:17 and my appointment was at 1:30. I didn't see anyone until 2. I gave the receptionist my insurance card after filling out new patient forms. I got it back when they were ready to see me. All she said was, "Here is your insurance card. Right this way." I completed the eye exam and was getting ready to select a new pair of glasses, only to find out that my insurance doesn't cover frames and lenses for some odd reason. I never had this issue before, so I will be calling my insurance tomorrow. The lady told me to schedule another appointment for glasses that way I can see what's going on, so I don't have to pay out of pocket for glasses if it wasn't necessary. So I went to the front desk to check out and I was told that I was going to be charged 25 dollars for this visit. I was confused so I asked what the 25 dollars was for. She said it was for the refraction. I didn't know what to do because my insurance covers eye exams and I was even showed and told that my insurance covers eye exams. I called my husband and explained what was going on and he was baffled as well. I asked the lady what a refraction was so I could explain to my husband and she said it was where they flip the lenses and ask is 1 or 2 clearer. I told her she could check out the next person in line while I was on the phone. She shooed me with her hand and told me i could leave. I thought she was shooing me to the side so that I would remain six feet away from the next person in line. But then she did it again. She shooed me with her hand and told me i could leave and that they will just bill me. So I walked out of the door because not only did I get SHOOED, but I'm not paying 25 dollars for something that SHOULD DEFINITELY BE COVERED BY MY INSURANCE. The "refraction" is the eye exam. I should have been told what my insurance would and wouldn't be covering before I was even seen by anyone. Why did they ask for my insurance card when I got there if they couldn't provide me with that kind of information? Normal places explain to you what your insurance will be covering after they run your information. I have family in town, but couldn't reschedule my appointment because they didn't have anything available until the end of May. So I wasted 2 hours that could've been spent with family instead of visiting this place just to be ripped off by using a fancy word like "refraction." I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!...
Read moreEvery time I come in here one of the receptionist acts like it's her job to do a full background check on me as soon as I sign in. It's offensive when she makes suggestions or comments that she's "got to make sure I don't owe them anything".. First of all. I pay my copay EVERY TIME , and her assumption that somehow I may have tried to skip out on a bill is offensive. Is it my race?!I'm not the one who cries "it's because I'm black" everytime something upsets me...but there's something unsettling about her treatment of me. What do i do differently when I come in the door that she feels she's got to do a thorough check on ME?! 😡.. Rummaging through papers feverishly looking for "something" that might justify her suspicions of me.. And everytime, she finds nothing! as I sit here and watch how she handles all the other patients that come in the door, I can't help but wonder what's really goin on. Racism is funny. People have pre-judged you based on stereotypes before you have a chance to show them that you're not like the "rest of them". Usually I pay my copay during check out, after I've seen the doctor but whenever I come in here, this one receptionist asks me to "take care of my bill" before I get both feet inside the office as if she's afraid I'm goin to get away without paying my bill..really?!Dr. EVANS is a phenomenal doctor, that's why I come here. But sometimes the wait is ridiculous and other than that one receptionist.. I have no...
Read moreUpon arrival the receiving staff was very nice. Dr. J. Evans was cheerful with a great personality however I felt rushed. I was triple booked with 2 other ladies all with appts at 3pm for the same Dr. (Learned that while we all visited as we waited). I finally saw Dr. Evans at 4:48. Being anxious about having eye surgery, I was only going in for a consultation, just for a talk, to understand the process of surgery. I was not expecting an exam and to have my eyes dilated. No one told me I should have had a driver bring me. The drive home was a nightmare! Total time with Dr. Evans was less than 10 min. After a whirlwind and confusing conversation I was then escorted to Shannon to set up surgery. She was very nice however, after being dilated and told it would take about 2 hours to see clearly, I was expected to read and sign papers for an invasive eye surgery I could not clearly see to read. I was then asked a personal question that had nothing to do with my eyes, did not relate to this office visit and violated hippa laws. By this time I was so overwhelmed and stressed I said "forget this" and walked out. I will not return to...
