we have never ice skated at this rink before came in around 7 paid 26$ for two people to skate we got on floor and ice was terrible jagged but skated anyway for 45 minutes then they made announcement to clear I've they were gonna smooth the ice after they finished we got back on floor and was asked to go to front window because of our arm bands they told us we no longer could skate cause the session was over and would need to pay again no one told us anything about the sessions at the front window in the beginning of they had we would have gladly left and came back to get our full money's worth we wanted to stay a few hours manager rudely explains what a session is like we are 5 to 2 almost 30 year old women and said to us I guess I'll give you two 20 more minutes we drove 2 hours to skate a few hours and got 65 minutes because no one cares to explain there were sessions in the beginning and was treated like children we didn't put up a fuss cause we aren't like that but we are very unhappy customers who love to skate terrible customer service very sad our holiday trip was...
Read moreThe ice rinks could definitely use some TLC. The new rink is great, though getting to it by walking through a parking lot on rubber pads and hoping to not misstep and dull your blades is a bit odd. The original older rink is showing it's age, and the doors on the ice can be a bit painful to try and open and close.
The staff working there are always incredibly friendly and nice.
The biggest issue is that the rink doesn't seem to use hot water or the cutting blade on the zamboni, meaning the ice is constantly uneven and filled with potentially dangerous ruts if you catch an edge at a bad time. The standard practice on both rinks seems to be to just dump cold water on the ice which freezes unevenly if the ice below it is also uneven or heavily chipped up. You can skate on it, but you get a lot of rough spots and uneven spots, especially near the Zamboni doors.
Hopefully they will start actually using the blade and hot water, because it would be a near perfect skating experience in the new ice rink with some decent ice. That would definitely push the review to 5...
Read moreI am always trying to find new activities for my sons who are 12 and 8 to try. We were playing miniature golf next door when I saw the Lexington Ice and Recreation Center And made the decision to go check it out inside. When I first entered, I Was greeted warmly by the manager Jeremy. I asked him if it was OK for my son and I to check out the layout of the rink and get a feel for it to see if my son might be interested in trying it out. He was so gracious when he told us yes go enjoy yourselves!. He then came and found us a few minutes later and offered me two free admission and skate rental vouchers for my son and myself. That way if he did take an interest, we could try it out risk-free and I think that that was just a lovely and completely amazing sentiment!!! It is such an amazing feeling when you see that there are still awesome people left in the world and who do incredibly kind things.!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend, and will be back...
