In response to the store owner/manager’s reply: They want me to contact the manufacturer to fix the problem, when they admitted it’s a problem with the device. What a good business owner should do would be to exchange it for their customer and deal with the manufacturer themselves instead of pushing it off into the customer to do so. Thing is, we had bought our kids games there in the past, and they were so friendly. But as soon as there was a problem with one of the things we bought, they just didn't care. They had our money and we had a broken system and that was that. And I would've loved to spend more money there in the future, In fact we had planned to make several purchases for our other game systems when we went in to make the exchange, but now I just feel like I can't because of this. We always had pleasant experiences prior to this, but it’s clear to us now that the manager and owner doesn’t care about the customer. If they did, and valued them & their business, they would make it right. Instead, they assault our character by accusing us of somehow causing the defect with the device and refuse to resolve the problem. I don’t take the assault on our character lightly. Maybe they have had people try to deceive them In the past, but we are not those people. We just want what we paid for - a working game system. Or a like-kind exchange or refund. If I could give zero stars, I would. It doesn’t always pay to buy local. Go to amazon if Old School Player is your other option. We purchased a combo game console (Nintendo and super nintendo) for our kids for Christmas and a game for them to add to our collection. When the holiday rush finally slowed down and we settled back in at home and tried to play the game (we hooked it up a couple of weeks later, because in addition to traveling for the holidays to see family and playing with all their other toys we didn’t do it before then), the console wouldn’t play any of the games we tried - yes, even the brand new one we purchased from the same store the day we bought the console. The guy we bought it from was friendly and assured us the system would work for our needs and we felt confident with our purchase; however, we now know they do not stand behind their products and do not guarantee any item will actually function as it should (even a brand new item such as this one). They even admitted this system wouldn’t work when they tested it but had the audacity to suggest this was our fault! They sold us a broken faulty game system and they refuse to even exchange it for one that works. Don’t waste your money here. I support small business when I can, which is why I purchased from this store at a higher price rather than amazon at $10-$15 cheaper, but trust me - go with Amazon on this one. At least they stand behind their products and will refund or exchange to make things right. Now I’m out $65-$70 not including the game we purchased and I have nothing to show for it but a game system that is apparently trash. Old School Player is a Bad business & Not trustworthy. They don’t deserve your hard...
Read moreAfter my second time in, I really enjoy this shop. Along with having games, they have a variety of movies/tv shows, and opportunities for you to come in and play games for a low price if you just want to game for a bit. The selection here is somewhat limited compared to other shops, although that could be due to location; despite this, they have enough to warrant many visits back. The most intriguing thing to me is the pricing; they have the more expensive/rare items for great prices, often below market value. Counter to this, though, the stuff that should be cheap can be quite “expensive,” with some outdated pricing. For example, I saw FIFA 21 for $11, which is undoubtedly cheaper at GameStop or anywhere else. It seems they aim to make money off the small stuff, while selling the great stuff at great prices; I am somewhat conflicted on this pricing model, but after buying an original Xbox at a great price, I can’t complain much. Some games also have multiple prices due to acquiring the games on different dates( I saw one game with three copies ranging from $7-$12); I’m not unreasonable enough to expect that the store re-label every item every month, it can just be disappointing if you end up with the more expensive copy. Despite this, the owner is reasonable and will gladly discuss price. On top of this, they offer a pretty sweet rewards program which is effectively 10% store credit cash back on purchases. None of these slight issues outweigh how much I enjoy this store, which is currently my choice store in the...
Read moreThis is one of the best organized retro video game stores I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and take the drive out and see their set up. They have games for every system you can think of and more you have never seen.
There is a game room in the back for $10 an hour with every system available to play.
If you are looking to trade in games and systems they take any and everything. For media formats they take DVD's, Blu-ray, VHS, CD's and cassette tapes. They don't have room for vinyl butni suspect they will take it eventually. Understand if you have items for trade they will tally everything and give you the full value of your trade in. With it added up they will give you 35% of the value of your trade in. This is the only store I know who doesn't give credit. They give you straight cash homie.
My only knock is they have so much stuff I would love to see them move to another location. However that's selfish of me. I like a more spread out store and not so small. There is so much to see and reminisce about. Trust me take the time and go check out this store. They got everything from skylanders, to...
