Thank you Marie's for making things right after my last order, no questions asked! You guys are top notch.
I was a local Logan Co resident for years and recently moved out west and have been a long time customer of Marie's with my clients. I had a major shipping issue with my last order just before Valentines day. While going thru the check out process I wasn't able to add ice packs to my order due to it being winter months. The only problem was it was being shipped to the Sonoran desert and had to go ground without ice. I received my package as promised from Marie's, but the issue I had was that it was being delivered on a day when it was in the upper 80's and the package was on a hot ups truck, and was one of the last packages delivered (around 5 pm). As you can imagine my surprise once I opened the box and the entire order was melted. I sent them a reply email as soon as I received the package and never heard back from them.....
Forward to today.. I just ordered from them again and this time they had more shipping options, but still didn't have a place to check for ice packs. I placed the order and then I received an email the next day from them requesting that I call and give them my cc to add some ice packs. I called Brittony and asked why this wasn't an option when I checked out and she reassured me that they were in the process of fixing that problem online. I tell you all this story to tell you this part next....After Brittony telling me I had to pay more for my recently purchased order, I asked her why I never heard back about my previous order that had been ruined and melted. She said they never received the message for whatever reason, and I re-sent the message back over. She looked it over and put me on a brief hold, then got back on the line to say that they were going to refund my purchase amount on the order that I just made, and were going to send it next day air, with ice packs free of charge. I never ask for anything given to me, and for these guys to do that without asking is truly a testament of how great of a company these guys truly are! Class act!!
Thank...
Read moreMarie's Candies is a family tradition for us. This small family business started by Marie King. In 1941, polio struck Winfred King, a young, hardworking Ohio farmer. The disease put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Over the years, friends and neighbors helped his young family. To express their gratitude, Winfred and his wife, Marie, began giving gifts of homemade candies. What began as a loving gesture in a country kitchen eventually grew into a successful venture that began providing a living for this industrious couple. Marie's Candies opened its doors in 1956, and its reputation for old-fashioned, high quality candies spread across the countryside.
The kitchen and retail candy shop quickly outgrew the walls of the small house. In 1966, Marie and Winfred built a combination house and candy shop in West Liberty. Their second son, Jay worked in the candy business with his two brothers during his teenage years. After the death of his father, Jay continued to work in the business taking ownership in 1977. The family continues to run the business today.
We each have a favorite candy from Marie's. They also have a website and ship candy across the country. Every customer is treated...
Read moreI grew up on Marie's Candies! In fact, as a teen nearly a half century ago, I mopped the store's floors once a week for $2 an hour and all the candy I could eat while on the job. I got an occasional stomach ache from not knowing when to quit, but it is every bit as good now as then. Although I have lived in Florida for four decades now, the thought of mint melt-aways and peppermint chews still brings a smile to my face. A trip back to Ohio without stocking up at Marie's would be unthinkable! In fact I'm on my way there today. Superb candy...wonderful people...warm memories. And thankfully, internet ordering. If there is better candy anywhere--it has got to be in heaven! Because I cannot imagine how anyone but God could improve on...
