Sunset Libertyviile used to be my fav grocery store. Staff were incredibly helpful & willing to go the extra mile. Produce & deli were the best in the area. They also had a very tasty bar & grill. This was pre-Covid. Now...I don't know where to start. I’ve seen moldy bread in the bread aisle. Produce is really sad & stocked with food that expires in a day or two…and they boast they have the best produce in northern Lake County??!?? I work hard all week & am exhausted when I have to spend my Saturday morning looking for one decent apple or one decent avocado that's not soft & overripe. The deli used to be much better with more variety. Now...it's the same overpriced entrees day after day week after week. I used to justify paying more for higher quality food & better service but no longer can I do this. Today was my husband's birthday & I wanted a small cake. After I got it home I realized the sell by date was today--not good--cake was dry & I was embarrassed & today was the last time I will ever shop here. Save yourself the frustration. Go to Mariano's or Whole Foods in Vernon Hills or better yet Heinens in Bannockburn. I never have these issues...ever at Heinens & prices are about the same. p.s. The bathrooms are just gross. Always clean and well staffed but definitely on the higher priced side for those willing to pay. | To their credit, Sunset offers a number of specialty foods and items in every department, so please don't go there expecting the same number of choices in say, paper towels, that you'd get at a Jewel. | Respectable amount of organic and imported food stuffs, as well as fresh baked gluten-free goods. | A real live butcher who cuts your meat to order!
