You'll see the sign for Alder House off hwy 101, either just before or after Salishan Lodge, depending on your direction. It will be about 1 mile up a curvy road. Take the time to stop, well worth it. There's a pottery shop before Alder, so you can make it a two Fer!

Treasure was the artist the THREE times we stopped on our current visit to the area (we're from Auburn WA). On our 1st stop we watched Treasure create a beautiful seashell. I found a gorgeous vase that, if I hadn't bought it, I would have regretted it. The best part was watching Treasure make a small pumpkin for me (2nd visit). Took all of 8 minutes! Or as he said, "8 minutes and 24 yrs". 3rd visit was to pick up my pumpkin. I've bought many of these pumpkins at glass shows, but this is the 1st that I chose the colors and WATCHED it being made. Extra special!!!

We don't get to this area often, every couple years, but top on the list to visit will be...

I always stop for glass and just caught the sign on 101, pointing down a side street. A bit down the road was a wood building that at least looked old but I'm not sure. It houses Alder House Glass and it is a working studio and gallery. They certainly had more on hand than the usual ornaments, etc. and I was happy to find two pieces to add to my collection. Also fun was a customer asking about a dolphin sculpture. Andrew (?) seemed to be the guy in charge and surprisingly he had never made a dolphin before. But that didn't stop him. He had his assistant pull up some pictures and he started on it. The crowd grew in the store and we all enjoyed the metamorphosis of molten glass into a cobalt blue dolphin. It was hard to believe that he hadn't done it before. If no other reason come and watch them make these wonderful things and feel free to buy something. Their prices are...

I will have to say if your looking to have glass blown, if you go anywhere else it's your loss. We came in to see their work and I was needing a memorial piece done. Other shops told me 10 to 12 weeks. This place stepped up and did it immediately the guy I dealt with was absolutely awesome and half the cost of other places. We actually got to watch the pieces being made. Of course I cried like a baby. It truly meant so much to me. I won't go have anything done anywhere else especially for it being such a sentimental piece. A truly awesome shop. I'll get my items shortly because we were leaving early we had to have them shipped and that was inexpensive. Honestly I would have paid anything especially to witness them being made. Thank you Alder House Glass. You guys...

This is a fascinating place! I could watch this man all day! He has such an artistic mind and had been doing it for over 40 years. But what really sets this guy apart, is that he explains everything that he is doing and why, so that you learn how things work and how he had to think in order to create these beautiful pieces of art! You get to sit just a few feet from where he works (if the dog gets off the bench for you 😂) and watch the whole thing take place. He also takes custom orders and there are some really, heart pieces on display. In conclusion, to give you a picture of the kind of place this is, even though everything is glass, he had several signs that say "Please touch" because he's not afraid of his customers.
