The ONLY Other Review on here that is a 5-Star One was PUT THERE by the Gym-Owner, Steven Mount! There WAS a 2nd, 5-Star Review left by him on here until I updated mine mentioning his False-Reviews he had posted on here! I got a 1-year Contract w/ Golds Gym when this gym WAS Golds Gym, I then went for several months until my Dr. put me on a new medication that made me sedative, so I stopped going about 4-months in. The contract was for $20 a month w/ initiation fee and all that. Just last week I decide to go in and see Fitness Systems and if I am still on an account with them. As a matter of fact, I AM! In FACT, I already OWE them $44.95 for the past few months, but I can wipe that away by paying $20 right now. Cool, I give them my last $20 and they give me a membership-card and said I have until the 5th of Next month to give them a Credit/Debit Card to process, OR pay 3, 6, or 1-year in advance membership dues with no-strings. Awesome, I might just do the 3-month membership upfront because I hate contracts. So I was going for the last 5-days until I come in on a Monday night and some old-guy with an attitude-problem stops me from proceeding to my workout. He informs me that I need to give him a Credit card RIGHT Now and when I mention I've already given him $20, he says that THAT was for the PAST dues, but that didn't make me a current member. I tell him that is not the info I was given, and feel a little bit insulted by the old-fart's tone. I then ask him how much is monthly membership fee, and he says, "since you're an old-member, $25. But for new members it's $40." I've never had ANY problem at this gym before, so I figure that maybe he's just having a bad night and give him my card infomation now so I can workout instead of waiting and paying them 3-months upfront. So this guy never says anything like, 'sorry for the misunderstanding' or something. Nothing.. I found his behavior very unbecoming of a business owner, as I later confirmed that he was the owner, and it doesn't surprise me because most employees would never treat another person like that if they value their jobs. I finish my workout and go home to retrieve my Original Contract for Golds Gym which I assumed they had purchased from them and were still honoring SINCE I was already being CHARGED BY THEM for ALREADY being a member there! I come back in and wait to be seen by the owner again for which I now know his first name is, "Steve" and tell Steve that I'm contracted to only be charged $20 a month for at least another 2-months. No biggie, right? WRONG!!! "Look, every member pays either $25 for coming in earlier or $39 for coming in now per month, if you want to go to Gold's Gym then you can drive-out to their Citrus Heights location (which is about a 30-minute drive) and go there if you want to pay $20 a month." Oh really? How can I do that seeing as I ALREADY gave you my last $20 for, 'Past-membership Dues' that I APPARENTLY DID NOT EVEN authorize! I assumed they were going off my old-contract but I guess they were just going off of whatever they felt like making up at the time to get you to come in and give them Your money! During this whole time, I did not raise my voice, use foul or unbecoming language, or do anything to cause a scene BECAUSE I workout there! After asking a few more questions trying to get to the bottom of how they decided that I owed them $44.95 to begin with that I paid off in agreement with them at $20 and why did they do that if they were not following the original contract because I never signed-up with Fitness Systems?!?! Before I could get another word-out, I get the proverbial, 'We have the right to refuse service to anyone and I'm not trying to argue.' "I'm NOT either, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of.. "OK then, we're done. Your membership is canceled! Good-bye!" and just THAT fast is how I lost $20 to greedy Steven Mount of Fitness Systems of Lincoln, Ca! Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām very disappointed in this neighborhood gym. Iāve been a member for 20+ years and Iām there for the fitness classes and the instructors who teach them. Iām very disappointed in the current owner who has let this gym go down in appearance. When you walk through the doors first thing you notice is there is the air conditioner is mot on or isnāt adjusted to work out safely especially on very hot days. However to make up for not adequate air conditioning the front door and two back doors are open to let mosquitoes in. In every row of workout machines one or two machines need repair or completely taken out if theyāre irreparable. The owner seems to not care. Iām the back exercise room their is a wall mounted fan that hadnāt worked in at least a year. The owner has been told about this fan many times over but still had not been addressed and it might be a quick fix. The whole gym could use a thoroughbred clean, the wooden floor in the exercise room could use a good mopping and maybe the floors could be refurbished to give it a better look. The owner works out there weekly and yet fails to see the issues that can be done to make the gym look better. There are unpainted patches on the walls, taped over patches on the equipment, rust on the equipment. One of the shower heads in the men's room broke, so they just zip tied it back in place. The sauna looks like it hasn't been swept out in months and the light in it doesn't appear to be working. I show up to work out after work around 3am, but yesterday came in to a sign sharpied on printer paper that they would be honoring their scheduled hours and would be closed from midnight to four during the week. Since this is when I go, and I commute an hour to work, I will be trying to suspend my membership until I can receive the service I am paying for. I will update this post after I call in.
