Clean, very nice facility w a nice meet and greet area for potential adopters and new families to meet. But I worked w the supervisor and some other guy named Jim, and made arrangements to pick up my friends pitbull from There she was brought in by police after my friends unfortunate arrest and had been there 10-11 days. The supervisor offered me a great deal instead of the $10 a day plus the initial impound fee she agreed to do $75 for a new Adoption cuz it was past the time allowed for the owner to pick it up anymore and it would have been too difficult for us to get a letter from the jail from the owner. they would microchip her and fix her for $75 and we could adopt her so I went ahead and did that we relayed the plan to the family they said one day that they would be there they're going to pay for it, then they wanted me to pick her up all these different stories and then they stopped answering the phone and then finally got a hold of me with not enough time to make it that far that for that day and it was raining so I called the supervisor and I was really upset because they said that this was the final day they would allow us to get this deal or the dog she would be there be adopted out or whatever so I was a little upset I had to call and get her well without any notice the brother went got the dog the same time I was going out I waited for an hour for them to get off lunch and they adopted her just before lunch so just a lack of communication on everybody's part I just hope that the day before and not following through with what they said and being late is not a reflection on how that dog is going to be treated cuz those dogs need a lot of attention or they end up having...
Read moreWe went to several animal shelters looking for a dog. We usually adopt from Denton so we just kind of assumed other animal shelters operated a long the same lines. The fee covers getting the pet fixed, up to date shots, chip, and one month coverage of heartworm prevention unless the dog is heartworm positive. Point being, Denton knows heartworm status need to be addressed. We adopted a sweet dog named Bear who had been there for over 4 months. He was extremely thin and emancipated. The on duty officer working did not seem to know much about him or the volunteer. His shots were up to date when he was impounded his first time in 2017. Called to find out when they gave him his last heartworm pill only to find out they never tested him for heartworms or gave him any prevention during his time there. I am very disappointed that a shelter would not at least do the basics. Taking him to be checked now and hoping...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this shelter. I adopted a wonderfull dog but unfortunately he did not mesh well with my other dog and cats. He would get upset if I told him no n tried to bite me once but didn’t and there were no injuries. He was only a year old and such a good boy when alone with me. I called the shelter to tell them I would unfortunately have to bring him back and that he would be great in a home with no other pets. I called to check on him and they had euthanized him the same day saying he’s a liability. I would have taken him to the humane society if I knew they were a kill shelter. They had told me they were not a kill shelter. Texas law does not require euthanasia for a harmless bite. They lied about the law and about their policies. The manager needs to be fired. She was also extremely rude when speaking with me. May the dog...
