HOUNDS HIDEAWAY IS THE BEST!!! Hands down. I would NEVER bring my Cocker Spaniel anywhere else. They have taken care of her for a year now, usually a couple days a week and during a couple of our vacations, too. I have never had a negative or even questionable experience there. Because of the staff and impeccable facilities at HH, I truly have TOTAL PEACE OF MIND while my dog is there. I am a worrier, so that is saying something! Ha!
Here is why:
Their owner, Lacey Vance, has trained the staff extensively on dog behavior and what dogs fit the best in each playgroup and why. They are able to ‘read’ the playgroups so to speak and make adjustments as needed throughout the day.
The dogs are not only separated by size, but by temperament, which is very important!!
They have live cameras available (peace of mind!!) to watch for a small $5 add-on that day where you can have eyes on your pet literally all day! We used them a lot when we first brought our puppy to HH, but now we KNOW in our hearts that she might even be happier there than at home, we only purchase the camera option from time to time for our own amusement!!! Lolol!
There is a parent Facebook group and they post tons of cute photos of our dog at play during the day. Hello, Instagram content! Ha!
Sometimes Lacey, the owner, posts videos in the FB group of the dogs playing and explains their behavior to us, the dog parents. This has made me a better dog parent and has helped me better understand her interaction with animals in our own home. That is priceless.
They are so transparent about everything going on in the business and why they made the decisions they do. I always feel very in the loop about any changes that would affect us, policies, or news!
They take time to get to know the temperament of new dogs on their first day before immediately placing them in a large playgroup. This makes me feel that my dog is safe with other good-natured dogs!!
If a dog or puppy is nervous or they’re just new, the staff will place them one on one with an outgoing good-natured dog to play nicely with them and help them feel safe before placing them in a large playgroup. My Cocker Spaniel has been used for this ambassador-like role before and has gotten to play with a couple new puppies! So sweet! Your dog will be in amazing hands even if they are nervous to go inside at first! :)
I could really go on FUREVER about how wonderful Hounds Hideaway is. It is the greatest group of caring and highly-trained people and I am so thankful...
Read moreOkay because we argued about who would leave this review, it will be in two parts.. I am the "human" in this scenario and Hounds Hideaway (HH) is a godsend for me!! I work at home so it is not a true "daycare" for me, but maybe a "day escape!!" I love lil miss Leah (the doggie), but we all know how puppies can be. Her daily routine involves chasing the cat for about six hours and putting her cold nose on my leg for a couple of hours wanting attention. By Tuesday, the cat and I are ready for "day escape" or back to the rescue whichever comes first!! (okay mostly the cats view) Also I have CIPN which makes my feet and legs weak and does not allow as much exercise for our little girl as we would like. HH to the rescue!! Besides the fact that Leah knows the night before she is going somehow and gets excited to go see her friends, besides the fact that the facility always looks soo clean (a big one for me), or that she is always sooo exhausted the night and the next day from all the fun and exercise (see last picture), I think what I like most about HH is the people (every single one of them from what I have seen) and their true love for animals and commitment to this small business! Communication is outstanding and you get about a billion pictures of your little one playing that will soon adorn your home!
This is Leah... Ruff. I love my daycare, although I like to refer to it as "humanescape" well that is besides my Pack Leaders (humans at HH), they are always playing and petting me, and making me feel like a movie star with all the photo shoots, they can stay. These are just some of my friends below.. I gots about a billion of them... I know as soon as dad lets me out of my kennel that it is HH day and oh my gosh I get excited. As you can see the more excited I get, the lower my tongue hangs out of my mouth, but this just is a good sign how much I love it!!! They give me toys, have doggy jungle gyms, pools on warm days, beds to take a nap on, dedicated outdoor and indoor spots for doggies of my type (3 different playgroups) I am in the cool littles group. What else is there to say.. this place is five barks!!! Have your doggie ask for Leah.. I will show them the ropes...
Update from the human on 3/11/21: Beware your dog will have dog crushes and human crushes at Hounds Hideaway as shown in the...
Read moreThis is just another business whose only interest is the bottom line. They would rather keep $35 than show a bit of understanding and some customer service. We never had the opportunity to see how nice they can be to our dogs. We reserved ONE night for July 12 a Tuesday evening to attend a Santana concert at the AMP. We had planned to take our trailer and camp at Beaver Lake for a few nights and wanted our dogs to be safe while we attended the concert that one evening. Our dogs are both mini schnauzers had been boarded in Maumelle, Little Rock and several places when we travel even as far as Pittsburgh. HHR required a temperament test so we conceded and took them to their Conway branch for a day of daycare for the temperament test two weeks prior to the event. They told me not to worry about the reservation as they still had 13 slots available that one night and "pretty good in getting them in". Unfortunately for us Santana cancelled his concert and on July 8, we cancelled the dogs boarding. The $35 was a deposit that is non refundable and cannot be applied to another date by decree of their policy. The reasoning is that it is "peak season" and the ONE night cancellation in the middle of the week is a great monetary loss! In today's uncertain world, businesses should apply some flexibility in their policies. They are definitely not nice to people and there are plenty of dog care facilities and pet sitters who are both caring to animals and...
