My cousin & I ate here in lastnight. While my steak was a 10/10 on taste, the service from the waitress was the worst experience I’ve ever had. We drove from Tuscaloosa and arrived at 9:00. The establishment closed at 930. I called before hand to make sure it would be okay to arrive at this time. We ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer. When they came we asked for ranch she said it was out at first then comes back to the table and told us this was the last two as if to not ask for more. Mind you my cousin was sitting watching them prepare ranch cups behind us. When we ordered our meals my cousin asked what else was popular beside the steak and she told us rudely “nothing” then turns around 2/3 minutes later saying how she loves and orders the chicken bites for her self every other night. I ordered the King diamond steak and wanted a loaded baked potato and a salad with my order. The waitress asked what dressing I wanted then right after said they were done making salad and then I told her if they could just give me lettuce and cheese I would be okay with that as we drove from Tuscaloosa and really wanted salad. Like really how hard is it to get a salad?? What if I had ordered that for my entree? She tells me no. So I had to order two baked potatoes. I asked for them loaded and she brought me out two potatoes with only sour cream. I asked her why they were plain and she said they were done doing them and were out of the rest of the toppings. I said I can’t at least have cheese? She goes and quickly grabs a cup with cheese but only brought one and slams it down on the table. How was it out and you grabbed it that quick. My cousin asked to order cake and she said we had to order it at the front counter. & if she was so ready to go she was not reading our table because she was too busy playing with her friend. We sat 10 mins after being done with our food. She didn’t come to the table so I finally called out to her so we could get a to go box. When we got to the front counter and asked for cake the lady at the register asked us why we didn’t get it at the table and when we told her why the waitress tells to the front “I thought you wanted a whole cake” why would we want a whole cake at the table??? Furthermore she never asked if we wanted just a slice or whole. She never refilled our drinks and just had a nasty rude attitude. Not trying to pull the race card, but it seems as if that was her problem. Another lady sat behind my cousin on the wall and stared at us the entire time rudely. I understand we came 30 mins before closing but if they did not want to service us that late (even though we called) they should have turned us away instead of taking our money for poor service. This was my first visit & the steak tasted excellent, but It is so sad how we were treated. I spent $61 and my cousin spent $40. Waitress was blonde, slim, young (25-35) and the one staring at us the entire time older blonde long hair. The two ladies at the front counter were nice however. Needless to say I did NOT leave a...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday, February 29. We gave the young woman at the desk our names to add to the wait list upon arrival and were told it would be a 40-45 minute wait. After waiting approximately an hour or more, I checked to see where we were on the list and was told that our name was marked out because we didn't respond when they called it twice. I told her we didn't hear our name called and were near the door and could hear other names being called. She told me they would "star" our name and we would be the next ones called. Two other groups waiting near us decided to check their status as well--both group were told basically the same thing (including that they would be the next ones to get a table), so that was 3 separate groups who would be called "next." My husband checked again a little later and was told that they had called our name another 3 times and that the person calling it had come outside the door and gone from one end to the other calling our name, but we still had not responded. We and others around us said they NEVER heard our name.
Once we finally got a table, we EACH ordered an appetizer (oysters on the half shell). One order was brought to the table, but we NEVER received the other one; we asked the waitress to remove the second order from our ticket. When our main order was delivered, the food was not hot--as a matter of fact, my husband's fried oysters were COLD. The waitress never returned to our table to ask if we needed our drinks refilled. Only when we were finished did she inquire whether we needed anything else.
We realize this is a BUSY restaurant but there are many things that can be improved. The two main things would be to set the wait table up where people are waiting and call names using a microphone. That would free up the counter inside the doors to accept payments.

Read moreMy friend asked if I wanted to ride to “That Steak Place down in Livingston” that I’d told him about as I’ve been there several times and it was ALWAYS worth the wait and Delicious!!) Tonight was no different. We arrived about 5:20, he saw all the cars covering the hill and said this MUST be a great place to eat!! We were told 30-40 minute wait…..not bad given he drove an hour to pick me up and we drove another hour, so, we chatted the time away and then we were notified our table was ready. Now, it was busy so it took a minute for our server to get our drinks and take our order, both the famous Ribeye, just a difference of the temperature, medium rare vs medium well. The food was delicious as always!! And my friend enjoyed his food too, and said we will DEFINITELY come back here again!! Our server was great. She had a large area to serve but she tried to keep our table checked on as much as she could!! We were certainly pleased with the Whole Diamond Jim’s experience tonight. We didn’t get desserts because we both got full too quickly and there was no room for even one more bite!! If you are within 1 1/2 hrs drive of Livingston, check the hours of operation on Facebook or on Google, head to this little hole in the wall gem in West Alabama, it is worth it! I love this place and though I’m so sorry for the loss of Miss Donna to Diamond Jim and the rest of her family and work family recently, I’m sure she would want her and Diamond Jim’s legacy...
