The first gentleman who came out and measured everything for a first floor re-do never called us back. After taking our own initiative (and dealing with someone else) we decided on an Armstrong LVT product with grout and a middle-of-the-road carpet with upgraded padding.

Positives: They dealt with our finicky tile pattern. We wanted a specific percentage of three different colors. Installation was outstanding and done a day ahead of time (they do subcontract, though). The gentleman we finally worked with on the projectproj excellent and the owner even helped us pick out carpet for the rest of the first floor (and we love the carpet, so far).

Negatives: Well the initial neglect obviously. The tile we bought for almost $6.00/sq ft is almost always on sale at Carpet Mart for less than $4. In less than a year two tile have chips in them. Wow! Even worse, even though they are under Armstrong's warranty, they won't replace them. The guy who came to inspect them (Neglect-man from earlier) said that our kitchen chairs chipped them and that's not the product's fault. Wait, what? So these tiles aren't to be used in rooms with moving chairs? We have reconsidered using them for our countertop...

We compared pricing and product for carpeting 3 rooms, a hallway and stairs at 4 different businesses and settled on K&M. The price was the deal breaker, but then we were impressed by their service. The installer was going to go on vacation the week we were available to do the installation, but our sales rep called us back the same day we placed our order to say that the installer moved his vacation date! Not only was he accommodating, but he and his assistant were very professional - staying to complete the extensive job in one day, and cleaning everything up afterwards. It was an excellent installation and the carpet looks fabulous! We love walking on it and everyone comments on how plush it feels. Definitely would recommend K&M...

I was encouraged to order correct transition, so I tried. I was quoted $60 for a special order that I needed a certain minimum width. They could tell me the length but not the width..? Same day delivery may be possible but no returns if it doesn't work. Then was told- "I should probably go somewhere else" , and then he proceeded to find something else to do.. So I did and saved $ There are better helpful...
