Swim City — Local services in Longboat Key

I too have been coming to my “favorite store in longboat” for over 20 years. I will not shop here again as well. There used to be a lovely woman there that just made the experience better. Then last year I too experienced the mean one who insults every customer and I am not exaggerating. If you are a teenager or young adult, she says “where’s your parents”? Loudly.. One young man took a photo of a shirt he was thinking about getting for his dad and she yelled at him no pictures and then he got a lecture like as if he was 4 years old. Embarrassing to say the least of it! . I noticed the NICE young man was sitting at an outdoor table at the coffee shop WITH his mom after he basically got kicked out. . I normally would never do this but I went over to him and told him he didn’t deserve that tongue lashing and he was not doing anything wrong.This year I heard her speaking to a young woman shopping for plus size suits, saying that the suits she was looking through were for petite figures. One time I confronted her about treating people rudely -especially young people-because I just could not believe it or tolerate it. These are young people with money-they don’t need a mother. In 20+ years I have only seen people shopping who were quiet and just minding their own business. It’s awful. I cannot tolerate that behavior from this person and am shocked she continues to be there. Never again at that store. She is the one who needs a lecture. We have shopped in the LBK location several times the past few years and have always had a great visit. We have especially appreciated Julie the last several visits as she has always been incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We visit from NC for vacation, so while we didn't expect her to remember us with several months between visits until this week, she is consistently kind and inviting to folks coming in and more than accommodating, as well. She even picked up a bikini top from the downtown location and had available for me the very next day because the size I needed wasn't available at the LBK shop location. Though they had and excellent selection and at comparable prices the store showed little organization, they shoved there very limited selection of guy’s clothing in a hidden nook to be easily overlooked.

Also staff was very pushy and treated customers as if they shouldn’t be allowed to browse and that if the customer didn’t know what they wanted the staff would pick it out for you to get you out.

Staff also showed prejudice and wanted to get in customer’s face over not wearing a mask but when her friends come in she was hugging them while they had no mask and never asked them...
