Radcliffe's Great Valu Market — Local services in Longswamp Township

THE GOOD:

1. This establishment is VERY convenient when you need to pick something up for supper in a pinch.

2. The stock man, Darryl, is very friendly and helpful.

THE BAD:

1. Convenience comes at a cost. Everything is very expensive, compared to the larger grocery stores in Trexlertown / Kutztown / Macungie.

2. Be very leery of the expiration date of all perishables! Plenty of times, expired items are found on shelves, and I'd been screwed already by accidentally purchasing some of these items.

3. The attitude of the ladies up front is ABOMINABLE! Seems that unless you are a member of the local CLIQUE, their "nose in the air" attitudes are disturbing. You might be behind a local favorite at the checkout line, and witness ultra chumminess towards these customers. Then, when it's your turn to be helped, they just exude snottiness. Apparently, not speaking with the local Pennsylvania Dutch accent gets you the lesser treatment. This is evidenced by the cashier not bothering to say HELLO when starting the checkout process, or after you've paid for your groceries, them dropping the change into your hand, from 6 inches above your hand.

Yes, I'll still patronize this store, as convenience reigns supreme over cost, at this phase of my life. I will NEVER let the snotty ladies get me too...

Nice,clean,"Mom and Pop" grocery store. Great baked goods!! Meats are very fresh and very reasonable prices. Any (5) five meats are $19.95. Excellent pork chops!! Very clean store. Not a "CIRCUS" like Wally World.....Wall Mart. Friendly staff too. Nice selection making their overhead less and the savings are excellent. They have what I need and what they don't have I'll buy at Sam's Club or B.J.'s Wholesale. Like laundry detergent and so on. Ample parking and I don't have to search for My car!! Give it a try. It's very convenient!!!! In and out!! I love that about it. It's not a "CIRCUS!!" (5) Five stars for sure!! EXCELLENT Boston Cream Cakes and doughnuts too!! Made daily or to order like a birthday party,etc.. See You there as I love the ease of the place!! NO complaints here. Happy shopping, if I could stick to My "list"!! NOT a chance as the fresh baked items hit Your nose as soon as You walk in the door!! I don't eat much of those things, but when I do.... I'm gonna go to Radcliffe's I.G.A.!! My husband's youngest siblings are around 8 and 10, and I tutor them once a week. This shop is a bike ride away from my in-laws' house, so we end up going to get snacks before or after around half of the tutoring sessions. The last time we went, it was pretty late. We tried to be in-and-out, and I'm pretty sure we were there no longer than 5 or 7 minutes, but I could be wrong. I could tell that the cashiers were eager to leave, but they were still very kind and considerate towards the kids when one went back to quickly grab a candy bar and the other wanted to exchange a dollar or two for some quarters for the toy and candy machines at the exit. I understand working long hours and wanting to leave when one last customer comes in, so I commend the cashiers that were working that night on their patience. If a manager or owner sees this, that night was Monday, September 11th. Those workers deserve to...
