St Helen's Shopping Center / Check Cashing — Local services in Longview

This generally is a great place, to have in the community. They're much more than a corner convenience store, they have good meat and produce, a nice selection of grocery items, they cash payroll checks for a very reasonable fee, and the people are usually very friendly and helpful.... usually.

I run in there once in a while to cash a payroll check. Sometimes I get done working for the day after the banks close, and if I need access to some of the funds from a paycheck right away, it's really nice to have a convenient place that's open later where I can cash my check and the people make it quick and easy and they only charge a very reasonable fee to do it. The south Asian gentleman who's there most of the time, who I believe is an owner and who's name I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember, is always super helpful and friendly. The ladies who've been working on several occasions when I've gone in are always excellent. The only issue I've ever had there was tonight. As long as I've been going there, they've been open until 9pm every day except Sunday. A couple times I've come flying in there just a few minutes before 9, but they've always still cashed my check with no problems. Tonight however, I got there at about 8:50pm, walked in the door (it was unlocked), and the heavy set middle aged guy working the register immediately told me they were closed. I looked at my watch and he said they had been closed for a while because they close at 8:30pm now. I told him their google listing still shows them as open until 9pm, he said they aren't in control of that (not true), I asked him if I could please, please cash a check, but he said no and was pretty rude about it. I have no problem taking responsibility if I had waited until the last minute to go in and got there too late, but it all just felt fishy tonight. They closed at 830, but the doors were still unlocked and he was still standing at the register at 850, and as I was sitting in the car in the parking lot after having been turned away inside, I noticed that he waited until a few minutes after 9pm to lock the door and leave. It really seemed like he had closed the register early in order to leave right at 9. I still think it's a good business, I'll still go back there, and I'll probably leave another better review in the future. The interaction tonight just left me with a bad feeling about the whole ordeal and if the guy working there tonight was being shady, I didn't want him to be able to get...

Great little shopping center. They have a pretty good selection of food items including; canned foods, boxed dinners/noodles, non-perishable foods, fresh produce, bakery items, deli products, dairy, a variety of beverages, candy, chips, a good sized variety of different snack foods, frozen items such as pizza, burritos, ice cream, It's kind of like a grocery store but a lot smaller and it also has a pretty decent size section of the store with household items, healthcare and hygiene supplies, clothes, socks, children's items such as toys, art supplies, clothes, etc. They have a good sized variety of products to choose from. They also cash checks for very cheap(usually it depends on how much the check your cashing is for), sell lottery, liquor, beer, tobacco products, etc. The owner is very helpful and kind and will go out of his way to help...

Have not been to Saint Helens in a long time but it's always a nice store to stop in and make a quick purchase. Lots of things to see and neat things for sales such as hats, keychains, miscellaneous accessories and lots of sweet treats and assortment of chips, produce, candy, beverages n meat.
