Rustic Canyon Recreation Center — Local services in Los Angeles

This is my fantastic local park. Steeped in history... Rustic Canyon Park lies sequestered among enormous old growth trees that were planted as a forestry experiment back in the 1800s. The Park building dates back to a time when old world creatives like L. Frank Baum (who wrote the Wizard of Oz) had an enclave here called the Uplifters. The building used to be their clubhouse. This is one of our favorite parks on the westside. The green space is small and bowl shaped, which naturally corrals smaller kids (and even big ones). At night it actually gets dark, allowing us to enjoy stars and the glow from our barbecue. There are a few too many "amenities" for my own tastes—I prefer maximum open space. Absolutely love this park. I have been going there since I was a small child, and had my own child create memories there as well. However I am a little disappointed with trying to get information on web. I hit the website lunk to try to find fall classes and get directed to L. A. Rev and parks site and keep trying to get information on rustic canyon to no avail. So I think web access needs to be...
