We celebrated our niece's birthday party here. Although the people who work there was very friendly, the place itself needs work. Its too dark in there. The areas where the tables are, is so cramped, and there is not enough seating or chairs. They barely have room for 2 parties at a time. And they dont provide or prepare any food, you have to bring in your own pizza, cake, etc for your party. Most concession stands have hot dogs or pizza or fries, etc, but maybe due to covid they stopped doing this, not sure. The skates given to us were in need of repair. We returned them only to get another pair that wouldn't work and the shoe string was torn in half and was so short it only laced up half way and was tied in a knot, which wouldn't stay on the child's foot so we exchanged again. There's a table near an entry way between the concession stand area and the skating rink... and this could easily create a problem because you constantly have to ask the people standing there to move or say "excuse me" over and over again. And the bathrooms were clean but the toilets didn't flush, the water just swirls around and then it fills up as it if it's going to overflow and every sink was filled wirh dirty water that wouldn't drain. I wish more business owners would invest just a little money to make improvements and repairs. There was confusion about where or how to get the "skate trainer" that you hold on to if you're not a good skater yet. One person said you can rent it at the booth where the skates are but he said you have to pay for it at the concession stand and then pick it up at the rental skate booth. The first time we went to the concession stand to pay, they said no, go back to the rental booth, and when we did he sent us back to the concession stand. When you first enter the building There's a huge area where you stand in line before paying to enter. This area was bigger than the area where the tables and parties are. There are no signs telling you how much it cost to enter or any other information. The music they played was current and upbeat and everyone skating seemed to be having a good time. There's 3 or 4 small games similar to what you see in some Walmart stores that you can play that are against the wall near the concession stand and front counter, but there's just not enough room over there. There were a couple games in the far left corner on the other side of the skating rink that were not in use/not plugged in. This could be a great place with some upgrades and...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a Negative star! First off we stood outside in the cold in line for 40 minutes!!! I had my 5 year old daughter, my daughter who had just turned 10 and 3 of her friends to celebrate her birthday. It was amazing how they emphasized security at the door, and there was ABSOLUTELY NO ORGANIZATION WITHIN. We had to wait almost 10 minutes to get skates because the guy who gave out the skates was busy flirting with girls on the skate floor. I didn't see the lady who worked the snack bar until after a hour of being there; from what I could see there wasn't much of a selection. I think I seen 1 pretzel in the pretzel stand and that was it: no prices posted or anything. We went to the bathroom after first going in and IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! Mind you the place had only been open for 40 minutes.. The whole building was dirty! The kids were running back and forth across the skating rink floor, wrestling, and running rampant all over the place pushing and jumping over the seats while I was sitting there. I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! I WILL DRIVE ALL THE WAY OUT FIRST! This was posted 3 yrs...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. My kids had a skating party with their school and had a very enjoyable time there. There are some things I don't like though. First, the rink is made of concrete, not wood. As you skate, you can feel all the little bumps and imperfections in the floor. It's not a deal breaker, but just not as nice as what I'm used to. Next, the rental skates were very uncomfortable. They are exactly like the skates that I remember from my youth with absolutely no padding. I recently went to the Champs in East Louisville and they had much newer and more comfortable rental skates. But, here's the thing that really bugged me. They do not have a water fountain. I went to the snack bar and asked for 3 cups of water and they said they only sell bottles. She said she could sell me a cup of ice for 50 cents. I said can't you just put some water in that and she said they aren't allowed to. I ended up having to buy water bottles. Since they don't have a fountain, that to me is exploiting their customers. I was not happy. I would recommend Champs...
