I just had an experience that has turned me off to going to AutoZone any longer. I went to this location to purchase a brake master cylinder and some brake fluid. I had recently (within last 3 weeks) gone to this same location and they said they price matched Walmart on fluids and they gave me a price match on some transmission fluid. So this time, I went into this location to purchase the brake fluid and master cylinder but they wouldn't price match. They said they no longer price match Walmart. I can't stand inconsistency with policy.
Anyway, I then called corporate customer service to gain some clarity on their price matching policy which I couldn't find after doing a quick search online. The first rep kept talking over me and hung up on me. I then called back and was able to find out, after the rep talked to a supervisor, that they price match competitors but they don't consider Walmart a competitor. Um, what?!? Get a clue Autozone. I was willing to spend close to $50 on a master cylinder that I can purchase from Amazon for $25 but your policy (or store, still not 100% clear) lost a sale because of pettiness over a few dollars on brake fluid. I do not plan on ever stepping foot in an Autozone again unless I'm desperate. Congrats on the new price matching policy. It lost you a customer who has spent hundreds at your locations in the past month alone. The moment I walked in, the associates were ready to help and upbeat, despite closing in less than an hour. Which was, for me, a shocker in a good way. You don’t see that work ethic anymore. Hunter D (and another male associate, which I can’t remember his name at this time) was very knowledgeable and patient with me, as I don’t know much about car parts or even less what I was looking for in particular. Hunter made great recommendations that fit my needs, and not just attempted to upsell like most companies want associates to do.
I finally made a decision and purchased the product and Hunter offered to go above and beyond & help with the quick part installation, which wowed me as I was expecting that I’d make the purchase and be sent on my merry way to figure it out on my own.
Once again, customer service like the one Hunter provided is not seen anymore and it’s quite refreshing to see that associates in retail stores still care about making a positive impact.

Read moreI came into this store on a Monday night around 630. This is the closest one to my house for my numerous car needs but I won’t be back. Two young guys were working the front and chatting on a customer that was checking out when I walked in. They didn’t greet me or saying anything back when I said hello. Okay, that’s cool. I overheard while they chatted the guy up and say “have a good night”. Another guy walked in after me and they greeted him, checked him out, and wished him a good night as well. I go to get rung up and I don’t get a greeting, the two employees continue on with their private conversation while ringing me up, and don’t say anything when they give me my receipt. Even after I said have a good night they continued on with their conversation. Not once did either cashier say a word to me. As I was leaving, another male customer came in and they stopped their conversation to greet him.
