Fulton County Airport - Brown Field (FTY) — Local services in Mableton

This is a General Aviation airport - small planes, business and charter jets, and helicopters. There aren't any airlines or scheduled flights going in and out of here. It's a nice airport with a couple of FBOs (equivalent to a terminal at a big airport) to choose from. They are Signature Flight Support and Hill Aircraft. You CAN charter yourself flights on private/charter jets and smallish planes in and out of here, but it's nothing like going to Hartsfield-Jackson and hopping on Delta.

You can also schedule helicopter tours of Atlanta from here as well as pilot flight training in fixed wing planes and/or helicopters. Various companies on the field offer those services.

While it's a nice airport, the surrounding area isn't so much. I'd rate the airport higher of not for this. I wouldn't recommend eating at a restaurant or staying at a hotel within 5 miles of the place. There are exceptions, but to be on the safe side, I wouldn't. However, there is a large visible police presence at the airport due to a couple of police precincts of different departments located here. That tends to keep the airport itself pretty safe and keep the troublemakers...

Flew in today to go to Six Flags and was pleasantly surprised with a class act controller that made me want to come back to KFTY. Seriously, he was great! Hill Aviation went out of their way to make our time there as easy as can be. 10/10 would recommend...
