Hilltop Liquor — Local services in Macon

Went on the store’s website and found four bottles I wanted to purchase. Called the store to verify the items were in stock and was confirmed that they were. I drove two and half hours from Fort Gordonto show up Saturday morning to find two guys arriving late to open the store. After almost twenty minutes after the place was supposed to open I get halfheartedly waved inside. I ask the two guys behind the counter if they had what I was looking for and at first they said no. So I told them how often their website updates, because sure enough when I pull up my smart phone their website still states they have the products on hand. I get told “I don’t know, it’s not accurate.” Then I tell them I confirmed the products were in hand an hour and half before closing the night prior, I just drove two and half hours for this, are you certain? They call the “manager,” and after some quick dialogue I am told I can buy half of what I was looking for but only if I buy a bottle of store pick (whatever is hanging on on the aisle shelves) first. So I grab a bottle from the main area and return to the counter to then get told I cannot have two bottles, only one. I told the guy behind the counter that I would gladly buy another bottle of store pick for a second bottle of what I originally wanted and was told no he could only sell me the one. I have tried reaching the manager or the owner for five days now and each time they are never there but always going to be in tomorrow. I sent them an email informing them of the complete unprofessional mishap and have received bo reply. This is how Hill Top Liquors treats Soldiers in the Army, they lie to customers to entice them in the door, then fleeces them for more money but adding in underhanded business deals. AVOID...

The people who own this place are awesome and very accommodating! I like a certain whiskey and they keep some in the freezer for me so it's always good and cold and ready to go. Their attitude with me in the past has been less than consumer friendly and today took the cake for me. I didn't bother going back because the law has no return policy on alcohol but I ended up with not one but two cracked bottles of liquor. The first one was dried over with sugar. I thought it was glue at first from the boxes then my brother got home with a different bottle and it started leaking as soon as he opened it. So no, don't ever waste your time with them....
