BUYER BEWARE** I donāt usually post a review unless I receive exceptional or horrendous service. Unfortunately, in this case I am posting because of the later. I bought a pair of Jordans that needed to be restored and I did my research trying to find a small business that could provide this service for me. I found a business in Boston called The Fashion Repair Center which is a sub business of Laramerchi Network owned by Jay Laramerchi. Despite not finding much of any reviews I contacted them. I was required to make an appointment to take the item that I wanted restored to the store in Boston. The day of the appointment my item was evaluated and I was assured that the replacement of the back tabs could be done. Jay said that he would order the back tabs and it would take a week to get them and a week to replace them, resulting in a total turn around time of 2 weeks. He continually preached about transparency and the value he placed on consumers that entrusted their products to him. He required payment in full up front before services were rendered with absolutely no refunds under any circumstances. (RED FLAG) He assured me that he would communicate any and all updates/delays as they unfolded. Despite his lack of professionalism and his unfriendly consumer policies I decided to take a chance and pay for his services. A chance that I quickly came to regret. Two weeks went by and I heard nothing from Jay. So I checked in and he informed me that he had still not received the back tabs (I interpret this to mean he had ordered them but not received them). Another week went by (brining it to three weeks) and I still hadnāt heard anything from Jay, so I checked in again. He said he still had not received the back tabs. I asked him to provide a timeframe for when the restoration would be complete. He insisted that he had told me on several occasions and he wasnāt sure what else he could do for me. He forwarded me a copy of his policy, which had no mention of a timeframe in it. Except when it said that items left in his store for 30 days become his property and he can sell it or donate it. (RED FLAG) I again asked for a date when the work would be completed and he said he is not the provider for me. He said if he was able to cancel the order for the back tabs he would refund my money and I could come get my shoes from him. I again asked what the completion date was and he said he was not comfortable giving me one. So much for transparency. (RED FLAG) At this point I am completely getting the run around and I say ok, give me my money and my shoes back. He then tells me per his policy all sales are final and absolutely no refunds are given. Yet another lie, he just told me he would refund my money if he could cancel the order for the back tabs. (RED FLAG) At this point I realize I am not getting my money back, so I say I want my shoes. He said āyou are welcome to come get your shoes, I do not hold items hostage.ā I said fine, I will be there to get my shoes tomorrow. He said no you wonāt, you have to make an appointment to pick them up and I have nothing tomorrow. I made an appointment for Tuesday. Shortly after that he contacted me asking me what time I could come tomorrow. He then proceeded to ask me questions making sure that I understood I would be getting my shoes back without the back tabs that were in place when I dropped them off and I would not be getting my money back. (RED FLAG) I showed up at my appointment time. He made me wait outside, he told me he was with a āclientā and he would be with me shortly. I waited outside for 10 minutes and then he handed me my shoes. Once I paid for the services the way he spoke to me was condescending, disrespectful and unprofessional. I am writing this review with the hope that I will prevent someone else from being a victim of his scam, to prevent others from enduring what I have.
