My family absolutely love Johnston's!! Their meat is about the best you can get in the Wiregrass area. While most butchers, such as this, have slightly more expensive prices than say Sam's, the quality just does not compare. Their hamburger meat and Silver Sirloin are second to none. We have gotten Filet Mignon on special occasions, and they perfectly trim them,we then have the trimmed meat and fat added to some hamburger meat to add even more flavor. They have incredible bacon that is fresh sliced to whatever thickness you prefer.

Finally is probably the best thing they carry, smoked pork chops, there really is nothing like them! I get them cut to about 1" thick and we grill them, bake them, add them to peas or beans, or basically any excuse to add them in. Every trip needs more smoked pork chops.

The staff is also phenomenal with a great sense of humor. They want to make sure you get exactly the cut you want and it is the thickness you need. They make every trip a fun adventure.

Just a good ol' fashioned butcher shop. Love this place. Mom and l drive 45 minutes at least once a month to get our meats. I like the Angus beef over their Silver grade. It's just a matter of personal taste, as l actuallty prefer my beef a little more toothsome. The Silver is great too. Just actually a little TOO tender for my taste... I know. I'm weird l guess. Great selection of Kelly's products as well. The ham and smoked pork chops are delicious. You can get em sliced as thin or thick as you like. The Kelly's sausage will be tastier than any you'll find in a supermarket. I guess it's just fresher. Also he has Kelly's Andoulle sausage. Which can be a little hard to find in the local supermarket. But any cook worth their salt knows you gotta have it to make authentic Cajun gumbo or Redbeans n rice. He'll be glad to grind and mix up made to order breakfast and Italian sausage for you as well. Makes great spaghetti sauce....

my family moved here 5 years ago and I had been looking for a meat market here that gave the same quality of meat and service of the family owned meat market we sadly had to leave behind. I found Johnstons and was amazed at how wonderful it is. I love the feel of the place. The hand cut to order meats that I buy are as good as the ones I used to buy back home. And the prices are awesome. The staff is friendly, and they treat you like a person and not a number. They are also extremely knowledgeable about every meat they sell, and about every product they sell in the store. You arent just buying food here, you are having an experience that you'll not find...
