Incredible mountain! The drive up is fun! Lots of curves and places to stop and look out. We went yesterday end of October. The weather was close to 55 near the bottom and close to 45 near the summit. Very windy too. If this was summer, this would be an ideal place for a picnic. Some amazing areas to stop and enjoy the view. There are some private properties on the way up to the summit. They seem to be owned by some people with lots of $. (Would be an amazing Airbnb) lol The view from the summit is amazing! Definitely worth the price of admission. The restrooms at the top are clean and modern as well. Be careful! Make sure you have good brakes! Downhill close to 5 miles those brakes will get a work out for sure! Very steep.

The drive to the top was on a wide and well maintained road with several scenic spots to pull off. At the top, there was a building with multiple viewing decks and several quiet spots to sit and take in the views. There were also trailheads leading on various hiking paths. This was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.

Drive to the top and arrive at the pavilion for a breathtaking view and learning center. Interesting history about the monastery. I feel like 90% of people don’t know there is a trail behind the building, but it’s not for anyone with bad knees. It’s about 10 minutes but it does go up and down.

It’s the first time I am in Vermont, and I regret the detour. I had a disappointing experience especially here because: It’s way over priced. A car of 4 would be normally be charged 35 dollars! If you don’t think that’s much, be reminded that entry to the world-famous Yellowstone only costs $35. And whose genius idea was it to charge not only by vehicle but also by person? The weather on mountain top was bad the day we came. It was in deep fog and we didn’t see anything except some eerie looking mannequins. No food, no view, just fog and mannequins. My point is that the staff should have warned us about the weather, I see that they have surveillance cameras on mountain top so she knew how it looked like, but instead she insisted on charging us money just to let uns drive miles uphill to see nothing. So greedy! I would not recommend it to new drivers or if your car is auto transmission. It is very steep, narrow and dangerous road and it WILL wear down your brake when you come down. I have seen smoke coming out of man’s car. Again the staff should have warned man in a more clearly way about the risk but instead they only give you a stick note sized paper and it says: do not ride on your brake. Who even know what does that mean? That’s all I could think of now, will add later... Allgemein gesagt: sehr schlecht und...

The Summit is absolutely beautiful. If you hiked up, the views are a well earned award. You can also take the toll road up. There is plenty of parking. The Visitor’s Center is spacious and informative. There are restrooms, a small chapel, picnic tables, and historical information about the area.

There are several hiking trails from the summit. One goes to a Lookout Rock which also has nice views, but the views are better from the summit. There is also a monastery nearby however I’m not sure if any trails head in...
