La Mexicana Superstore has some strengths, but also a few glaring issues that need attention. On the positive side, the store is well organized and walking through the aisles, youāll notice that all the canned goods and shelf items are neatly lined up, which makes for a pleasant browsing experience. Itās a decent stop if you only need one or two items in a pinch.
However, pricing is a major drawback. Most items are significantly overpriced compared to other local options, which makes it hard to justify regular shopping trips here.
The biggest concern for me has been the quality of the frozen goods, particularly the ice cream. Over the past month, every pint Iāve purchased has had icicles inside a clear signs of improper storage or freezer issues. I brought this up with the manager, who was very apologetic and encouraged me to grab a replacement. Unfortunately, the problem seems ongoing. Iāve noticed that the freezer where the pints are stored appears to be leaking from the top, possibly water, which then freezes over the ice cream. Oddly, the lower shelves seem unaffected for now.
Another disappointment is the Mexican bread. While it often looks fresh and appealing, about 80% of the time it turns out to be stale or rock hard. Itās frustrating because the visual presentation is misleading, and the quality just doesnāt hold up.
Overall, Mexicana Superstore has potential, but until they address their freezer maintenance and improve the freshness of their baked goods, Iāll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery nice place. They have a lot to offer. Friendly staff. I had the chicken tamales. They were really big and tasted delicious. I also ordered a carnitas burrito. Wrong choice. Don't get me wrong, it was big as well. But it tasted strange. Greasy. Wrapped in a layer of fat in the middle. It didn't taste fresh. Like they were trying a different way to make it with rice and beans but it wasn't working for me. Maybe I should have tried their tacos. Their menu is priced fair. Maybe I'll try the breakfast tacos next time. They also have a lot of bakery stuff to choose from. Burrito 2 stars. Everything else around 3-4 stars . Their carnitas tacos are the bomb!! 3 for under $10 and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLa Mexicana is a great addition to the neighborhood. The supermarket carries all the essential grocery items you might need. The most economical choices are the fresh foods like fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, and milk. Some of the packaged food items like cereal are more costly than what you can find elsewhere, but the store does have a selection of all major categories of dry goods so that you can get what you need here without having to make a trip out of the area.
The prepared food that I have tried in the restaurant is also very good. I've especially enjoyed the breakfast tacos, but there are additional choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is also a...
