When we first reached out to this apartment, we were absolutely astonished at how incredible the people in the office were. They had answers to all of our questions about safety, maintenance, & about the apartment itself. We got added to the waitlist for a 2bed & also a 3bed.
The 2bed became available first, and after about a month & a half, we got a call saying we were towards the top of the waitlist! We started the process of filling out paperwork, working with Teresa & Ahkila (sorry if the name is incorrect!) specifically. At first, we were denied because of a miscommunication error causing them to double our income & include reimbursements from the job as income when they aren’t considered income. After about 3/4 weeks of emails and getting the HR from the job involved, we were able to provide the correct paperwork proving we were within the means of the income restrictions! Ahkila worked side by side with us to fix the error, & Teresa did an incredible job keeping us updated on the progress and what was needed from us.
We moved in, and the experience has been very nice. They have multiple dumpsters around the complex, & maintenance goes around every other day cleaning up the trash that people just leave beside the dumpster. We’ve had a few maintenance requests since we’ve moved in, & the longest we have waited for a fix is 3 business days. Maintenance is super nice, understanding, and respectful!
The office is incredible with helping us with small things, like loading our laundry card, and they never seem annoyed or upset by our questions or concerns.
Overall, this experience has been very pleasant. The apartment comes with ceiling fans, lighting, washer/dryer hookups, a dishwasher, fridge, oven, microwave, & heating/cooling! Coming from Washington State where fans/ac & heating/lighting were uncommon to see, it was an incredible touch to affordable housing!
I would recommend Terrace at Walnut Creek to anyone looking for...
Read moreThis is the worst place to live in Austin. Cars are constantly being shot at, broken into and stolen. You can hear gunshots repeatedly every night. The cops are here every night. We’ve lived here for almost three years and have seen multiple people get shot and have witnessed several drive bys. My neighbor has bullet holes in her walls from people shooting up the apartments. The swat team comes here often to have a shoot out. I complained about an upstairs neighbor trying to repeatedly break into our apartment and they did nothing except tell me to put up my own cameras. The cameras they’re supposed to have at the front don’t work. The only clean area on the property is the areas they show you before you move in and you don’t get to move into the clean areas. They will only clean when someone new is moving in and they’ll bully the current residents. The office staff is horrendous. The only thing that has changed with the new manager is that the office will actually answer the phone now on occasion. Never leave a voicemail though because they won’t call you back. We waited over three days for them to replace a flooding sink that they messed up when putting in a valve. I get a knock on the door while I’m cleaning out my closets so we that we move out of here. I’m told by the large round Hispanic office attendant that I can’t put anything on our porches yet the neighbors who just moved out would leave trash on their porch weeks on end. Multiple residents complained and they did nothing. But if I put two empty boxes on my porch to take out in the next five minutes I’m getting a $100 fine and rude attitude from the office. They will steal your deposit. We’ve had to contact a lawyer because of this and they told us that this property has several lawsuits against them. This place is not safe at all. If you value you or your family’s life I would...
Read moreIt took us about a month and a half of back and forth with paperwork to get moved in, driving back and forth from Dallas at least once a week to finally be able to move in. The night they tell us we can move in, we drive from Dallas and they let us know when we get there their system is down, so we can't get in until tomorrow. I've never had a worse experience moving in. I will say the employees were mostly pleasant, but the system they had to follow was extremely difficult.
The apartment itself was pretty nice. New appliances and such, because the apartments are only a couple years old. The floors were not level, though. Noticeably so, as in a chair with wheels would roll to one corner. We had bugs much of the year we spent here. Mostly cockroaches or earwigs. There were also bedbugs at one point.
When we weren't worried about the bugs, though, this really is an okay space. I loved the gym, before it was closed with the shut-down. It was always clean and cool and the equipment was high quality. They've also got a nice playground that our daughter enjoyed.
The laundry room in the office wasn't great, but our apartment had hookups, so once we got our own machines, that wasn't too big a deal.
It's pretty far from the city, so if you actually need to go often, it could get tedious, but you're pretty close to anything else you might need, restaurants, groceries, etc.
We never had any problems with other tenants in our building. They all seemed kind and quiet. I did see someone throw several full bags of trash off a third floor balcony of another building, though. The grounds weren't always the cleanest.
The maintenance guys were usually easy to work with and generally concerns were taken care of pretty quickly.
For us, this was the nicest place in our price range and even after the problems we had, that's...
