Ha, friendly staff? More of a "follow those people cause they gonna steal." I come to the area every year on vacation. We make it a point to visit this place ever since we found it, like 4-5 years ago. I think. Any way on this visit was very disturbing. To start, we were asked by one lady 3x if we needed help in the back area. After walking back up to the mid point, we had a toy & small bar of soap. Another taller lady approached us and asked if we wanted them to hold our item's. I said no thank you, I'm not sure about the toy and she likes smelling the soap. So after about another 20 mins she comes back and asks again. So I go ahead and say sure. So I handed the toy to her and she asked about the soap, AGAIN. I said naw she still smelling it. Walking up to the front, we decided to take a glass container we saw in the back. So as my grown kids start walking back, the taller one was right on them following. When they get to the booth. My daughter waited as another lady was showing her granddaughter something. Well, the worker asks my kids which one they went to get. After telling her, she says, " well let me take these items out. Y'all don't need them." And carries the container up to the front. If I would've known that the same lady went to the side door to "check if it was open" while my daughter was choosing her soap. I would've said something. And if I would've known how that lady did my kids at the end, I would've left my items there. Real nice customer service, very welcoming, and...
Read moreWe visited last weekend as we explored some small local towns. This past weekend was West and Mcgregor. We had been directed to Cedar Chest by some of my employees and we thoroughly enjoyed most of the visit. We were surprised to find that the shop was well cooled, even in 108° weather.
I would have given this a five star rating except that as we were finishing up our trip, one of the employees engaged us in conversation and during this chat actually had the audacity to touch and pull my wife's hair. That ended our visit immediately. We were stunned by this woman's brazen attitude and made our single item purchase, leaving thereafter. If it hadn't been something for my mother-in-law then we probably would have left empty handed. The employee was an older woman with long blonde-ish hair. You can thank her for this review and my heartfelt promise to never do business there again. This was the one low point in an otherwise fun day.
Shoppers beware. I shouldn't have to worry that someone will physically touch us while we are shopping, especially with COVID ramping back up. I don't think she did it maliciously but she did it,...
Read moreNew Review- Cedar Chest Mall is still such an amazing antique shop. Takes hours to walk around and check out each booths goodies. This place has everything you're looking for, antique wise. Enjoyed my second visit, just as magical as my first visit.
Older Review- I'm sure in one of my older reviews I mentioned how I love antique shops, I'll say it again, I definitely love perusing antique shops. Cedar Chest Antique Mall has to be, hands down, the biggest antique shop I have ever visited. This place is massive. Expect to be here for hours walking through vendor area after vendor area checking out all the cool, unique antique items. I ended up buying two, cool items and there was still, so much more items worth bringing home. Friendly staff, fair (at times really cheap) prices on the thousands of items for sale. If your in McGregor, TX and you want to kill some time, check this place out you will not be disappointed. Now, if your like me and you love visiting antique shops, this place is a must...
