Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in McKeesport

It can be hit or miss. Meaning, sometimes produce will be sparse or in total disarray. Other times, it will look freshly stocked. Same with the bakery items, like cookies and coffee cakes. At times there will be plenty and at other times, there will be hardly any. However, their meat department and dairy have always been well stocked.

Even when the store is busy, the checkout lines seem to move fairly quickly. I do have to highlight two things. First, a woman who worked in the deli department was closing up one night when I was in and some people had picked out a birthday cake for a party they were heading to.

They were distraught to find out the bakery had already closed and upset that they would be unable to have the person's name written on it. The woman in the deli told them she did not work in bakery, but would be willing to write the name on the cake for them. That little act of kindness by the woman who worked in the deli made their day.

Also, they are really good about keeping the floor clean. The kid with the vacuum and floor washing machine is always out and about in the evening. They are also good at retrieving carts which is good because they're not all over the lot to damage your car.

Supermarket I would give a 4 star but this review is for the pharmacy because that is why I traveled there several times. Each and every single time a very tall black pharmacist was filling my scripts & every single time gave me grief over filling them. I know the rules, regulations and laws so dont try & play me. I have an incurable brain disease that I've lived with longer that it seems you've been certified. Each time I waited over an hour to only argue when it was my turn to only leave. I drove down the rode to Manns where they were filled in less than 10 minutes with no problems. To say the least...I will never go back and to end my review the other pharmacy said it was because he can hold people's scripts however it made no sense in my case due to the fact my insurance had been filling the same script every month for years. Friday I went in to this Giant Eagle, the store was clean and stocked. The manager on duty was Tom and he was busy stocking. Went and got the worker for the deli who didn’t take long at all. Name was Sam. He kindly told me he was busy doing things in the back needed to wash his hands and he be right with me. He came back, apologized if I was standing there long, said no. He kindly asked if I wanted chipped or slice. Each thing I ordered he asked if this slice or whatever was okay etc. The customer service went unmatched. I give him a 10. Outstanding customer service.

Even noticed the double bagged lunch meat on two because the first one didn’t zip. I appreciate that more than you know.
