Ancient heater, blower started making loud rackets and not blowing. Found out that the belt was bad, so we replaced it. However, the next day the blower started making noise again. After some looking, thought it was a set screw that had stripped on the motor's pulley, and someone suggested I check over at Mars Wholesale. I called over about 40 minutes before they closed, and as soon as I described what was going on, he told me, "Bring me the pulley." I got it over to him about 20 minutes before closing, and he humored me (I'm NOT a professional at HVAC repairs by any means!) as I told him the problem I'd seen. Then he explained to me how the pulley worked, how it should look, how it was really messed up and that he hoped my motor's drive shaft wasn't also messed up as a result. He took one look, called one of his workers with the exact size I needed, and proceeded to tell me exactly how I needed to install it, how I needed to make sure the pieces were aligned, and what to watch out for, as well as how I can do some cleanup and maintenance come spring.
Bruce Unger was marvelous, and I highly recommend that if you need parts for (well, it looked like just about anything!) heaters or other appliances/hardware needs, you check...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was panicking trying to find a new pilot light assembly for my 50+ year old boiler. No one had anything that came close. I ran past Chuba Heating and Plumbing in Homestead to ask if they knew where I could get something for an old boiler and they suggested this place. Wow. What a find. Bruce was a great guy and they walked me through everything. I spent less than $40 on the parts I needed and he showed me how to install it. It looks like they have parts for pretty much anything you can imagine and the know how to point you in the right direction. I saved a fortune having an HVAC guy come and charge me lord knows what for 10 minutes worth of work. I'm a computer guy and am clueless about plumbing. But, they made it seem pretty simple. I'm happy to say, my boiler is working thanks to the guys at Mars Wholesale! They accept cash and credit cards. Seriously, if you need some off the wall parts and standard run of the mill parts for plumbing or hvac, go here. Thanks a bunch guys. I'll be back for all my random household repairs and will be sure to recommend you to anyone I know...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn honest, helpful, kind team to do business with. I am a carpenter and I have no business repairing a furnace but when mine died over the holidays I figured I would give it a try instead of paying holiday rates for a serviceman. I went in with the idea that my pressure switch had gone bad and asked for a new one. They would not sell me one until they confirmed that it was actually the part that I needed. It turned out that I was wrong and the issue was with my control board. Again, they would not sell me one until they knew for sure they were selling me the right part. After confirming the model and serial number they hooked me up with the circuit board I needed. The replacement went smooth and my family is warm for the new year. Mars could have made more money off me had they just sold me the part I asked for. I am sure they knew that but seemed to have a genuine desire to help. In the end I probably saved three times what I spent. The world could benefit from more people being like that. I would recommend them...
