So I just got back home from getting a tattoo for here today from Amy and I couldn't wait to get on my computer to write up a review.
Let me first start this off by saying the "front desk" customer service at this establishment is top notch. Julie was as pleasant in her emails as she was in real life and really engages with the customers. The process of signing up was simple, and the follow up emails came in a very timely manner.
So when I talk about Amy here I want to break it down into two sections:
First section is the tattoo itself. My son was killed by a SUV on his bicycle, and I wanted something to remember him by and a portrait tattoo was the first thought that came to my mind. I searched online and researched who was one of the best east coast portrait tattoo artists and Amy's name popped up in multiple lists. As I started looking into her more, I loved her art (especially the John Lennon portrait). She was the only artist I contacted and was happy she was able to get me in knowing how popular she is. We decided to get the portrait on my forearm and the tattoo turned out to be a SPITTING IMAGE of my son. Even the stencil she drew looked so much like him before she even started to do the tattooing and shading. I cannot say enough good things about her work, she was VERY detail oriented, very talented, and she had a light touch (not a heavy hand like some artists tend to have). She constantly was asking if I was ok but to be honest, I barely felt a thing it was that easy.
Second section is for her personality. We talked the ENTIRE time and this was the first time we have ever met. I felt like I was talking to a friend I have known my entire life it was that easy to talk to her. She has such a great personality, and you can really tell she cares about her clients and her work. To put this in perspective I have a full sleeve on my left arm and it took roughly 6 months and a ton of hours and I think I maybe talked to that artist for an hour, the rest of the time was listening to music. I may have been a little much by bringing up stories of my son, showing her pictures, videos, and voice recordings etc but she took it all in stride with a smile. She never once seemed annoyed. She seems to have a great relationship with her co-workers and was constantly joking with them or making some funny sarcastic remark, but at the same time she is very professional.
No I was not paid to write these comments this is truly how I felt today, and I wish I lived closer because I would try and get so much more work from her.
THANK YOU AMY for an AMAZING experience and thank you Order of the Sacred Crow for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am leaving this review after having to remove my nose piercing done by Billy on 9/7.
My piercing appeared to be healing for the first two weeks and then developed a rather angry irritation bump that did not respond to recommended interventions.
I luckily had the insight to go to another piercer (who I've seen before) who attempted to salvage the piercing but ultimately recommended letting it heal before trying again. Ultimately, the other piercer (APP certified) said that the combination of poor starter jewelry AND being pierced at the improper angle caused the irritation and subsequent need for removal.
Looking back, there were many red flags:
The recommended aftercare is NOT supported by the APP. I was instructed to use antibacterial soap 2-3x/day, antiseptic wound wash 2-3x/day, and saline 1-2x/day. The APP only recommends saline as everything else can be irritating to a new piercing.
I was pierced with a nose screw, which is again not recommended by the APP as it moves and turns easily.
I was NOT able to select my jewelry and am unsure if it was clean or what the material was, as Billy picked it from a drawer and said "this will be your starting jewelry".
While it is too late for my piercing, I hope that others do not suffer the same fate that I did. Please do your research before coming here for a piercing.
EDIT 11/3: I am unable to the response from the owner. If you need proof that I was there, I can look back and see when I used your ATM or show the aftercare paperwork. Otherwise, you should have record of the paperwork I signed there.
You are correct that the terminology I used is commonly used with piercers, but can also be easily learned by a layperson in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been trying to unsuccessfully reach the owner of this establishment. I've called a couple of times and have not received a call back. My son got a tattoo that he's not happy with. He originally had an appointment with an artist that cancelled for some reason. He did research on this particular artist's work. That's why he made the appointment. Another artist did the tattoo. He's not happy with her work. We visited the tattoo shop to explain why he doesn't like it. The artist said she can fix it. The thing is my son does not want to return to the shop. He felt uncomfortable with the things on the artist's work station. Plus, the political conversation she was having with another employee. (In my opinion, politics shouldn't be discussed in front of customers)So, after all of this my son is in the process of getting the tattoo removed. All of this is so unfortunate. This was his first tattoo and didn't have the experience he...
