I went tandem skydiving for the first time at Skydive Mesquite on 6/27/25. I've been looking forward to going and doing this my whole life and I wish so much I was leaving a glowing 5 start review. I've waited a little over a week to leave a review to ensure that I know the scope of my injuries ahead of leaving the review. I'll give a brief breakdown of what went well and what went wrong.
What went well: My step-daughters instructor, Cash, was exactly what you'd want. He's a fun, personable guy who made the experience fun for her. Nothing went wrong for her and I'm glad that was the case. The experience of jumping out of the plane is pretty cool. The free fall was awesome. The gliding down on the parachute was great. We all lived through the experience.
What went wrong: My instructor, I'll not name names, was not fun or talkative. I don't know if he was having a bad day or if it's just his style. He only turned on the charm when the camera was on and outside of that he seemed genuinely disinterested that I existed or was going skydiving for my first time. We missed our landing spot by 20-30 yards. Instead of landing in the soft sand we landed on the hard pack dirt. They prep you to land with your knees at your chest. As a result I landed on very hard ground directly on my tailbone and have been in immense pain ever since. It seems very likely that my tailbone is broken. The instructor showed no concern for the fact that he missed the landing. I think he was probably pissed off it happened, but he didn't apologize or ask anything about my well being. He just moved on like it didn't happen. He did the final post landing recording while I was still trying to figure out how injured I actually was. The main folks inside the building tried to downplay it as I just got a little bruised up. A broken tailbone is not a small issue. It's not that I got a little banged up. It's going to impact several months worth of plans I have for the summer. It's nearly impossible to do much of anything without tons of pain. You'll sign your life away, and it shows when something goes wrong. There was very little concern for me or what happened. I don't think I even heard a sorry from anyone.
Based on my experience I could not recommend Skydive Mesquite and I'm sure I won't be back. I really wish it would have gone great and that I could have left a positive review, but I can only call it what it...
Read more*Long review but worth the read! These guys are freaking awesome! I've done a couple tandem jumps with them and they have been great! They are easy to book with! You get some great views... Can see up to Pine Valley Mountain and Sand Hollow in southern Utah... Down to Lake Mead... And all the surrounding mountains and deserts. All the guys, that I've jumped with, have been great! They have great sense of humors. And on the serious side, they make sure you are comfortable, safe and have a great time. The pictures and videos are great quality! Also, they are the cheapest place to skydive... At least within a 500 mile radius! And, if you're a bigger person, they have a higher weight limit than any other place around! As long as you are under 220lbs, fully clothed and shoes on, you are good to jump! Seriously, $189 per person, flipping great deal! This most recent jump, I took my daughter for her 18th birthday! She was a bit nervous but her jumper put her mind at ease and she had an amazing time! With it being a warm spring day, I wasn't thinking about the temp in the sky, I just thought, oh 74° and sunny , this will be great! They let me know it was 16° up in the sky... Crap, not dressed for that. Not a problem, they had gloves and jackets for us at no extra charge! Like I said, these guys are great! I 100% recommend...
