I cannot say enough about Mother's Care but specifically Lisi Grullon. Lisi was and has continued to be a tremendous support system for me and my family before, during, and after my daughter's birth.
I was set on having an unmedicated birth, but as it was my first child, I wanted to be in a hospital setting. It was very challenging to find a doula who would totally support both of those things. Luckily, my yoga instructor recommended Mother's Care and specifically, Lisi. Upon meeting Lisi virtually, I absolutely knew she was the right fit for me and my family. She was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and warm. Plus, she wholeheartedly supported my vision for my baby's birth.
During pregnancy, Lisi provided me with an abundance of resources and information whenever I had a question or was curious about a topic. If I ever had a moment where I needed anything, she was available to me and quick to respond. I felt as prepared as I could feel leading up to my daughter's birth because of Lisi. We had two in person meetings and two virtual meetings before our birth. Each meeting was informative and I felt as though we were creating a great foundation as the "birth team" (me, hubby, doula).
When people ask about my labor and my daughter's birth, I refer to it as my "dream birth." Truly, it was a beautiful and amazing experience, but I could not have done it without Lisi. Words cannot even express how thankful and glad I am to have had her with me during my labor. Lisi provided me with necessary comfort measures such as counter pressure, essential oils, massage, and words of encouragement. She was a calming presence every step of the way. I very vividly remember when she walked into the hospital room, I breathed a sigh of relief, like "thank god! she's here!" because she was that much of a calming, reassuring force. Lisi was very big on following my lead and respecting my birth plan, but she also emphasized the difference between going through something extremely tiresome or challenging and suffering. She encouraged me to listen to my body and if I felt as though I was suffering then we should consider changing the birth plan. Due to her abundance of knowledge, her warmth, and her emotional support, I achieved my goal of giving birth to my daughter unmedicated. Lisi was able to help me get into positions that would encourage my daughter to drop lower and move into the correct positions. Additionally, Lisi talked me through the contractions and constantly provided those comfort measures. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this woman is! She is an incredible doula.
After my daughter's birth, Lisi continued to be extremely involved. A breastfeeding session was included with her services and that ended up being extremely necessary and helpful in order to get my daughter to latch correctly and jump into the breastfeeding experience successfully. Lisi always made me feel comfortable, supported, and ensured that all of my questions were answered before she left.
My daughter is now 8 months old, but Lisi is still connected to our family and checking in. She still responds to my questions and concerns and always provides me with research based information. She is someone I truly trust and respect. She has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my pregnancy and postpartum. Without a doubt, I would hire Lisi again as my doula if I were to have a...

Read moreWe had such a wonderful experience with Mother's Care Doula Services! In preparing for the birth of our second child, we knew we wanted more support during the birth and after. Natalie Grillo was my designated birth doula and was a great educator and always available to answer my questions. I knew I wanted a hospital birth and epidural and she was not judgmental at all. Due to the baby coming slightly earlier than expected, Michelle was the doula that was actually able to attend the birth. She was so supportive and thoughtful and was a great advocate for what I wanted. My OB even commented at my 6 week visit that Michelle was an excellent doula and was very balanced between respectful of the hospital & doctors, while also supporting me.
Afterwards, we were able to use a postpartum doula. We worked with Alexis and she is AMAZING. She became part of Lucas' extended family - insurance was able to cover most of the services and so we were lucky enough to have her services a few nights a week from Jan - March. Getting some chunks of uninterrupted sleep + having someone to talk to at night really helped me survive those early weeks and gave me the mental bandwidth to deal with other issues (like my son's dairy allergy & reflux) that allowed us to stay exclusively breastfeeding going on 3 months now, which I had not had the bandwidth to deal with with my first son where I did not have this support! Really can't say enough good things...
