Avoid this place at all costs! There were a couple of people that were exceptional, but other than that the care was less than a one star. They are extremely understaffed and not able to handle any crisis that arose. I did not physically feel safe. Emotionally my needs were not a priority to anybody. There was no time to give adequate individual attention during a crisis, There were four people, including myself, that signed AMA’s but because of some confusion about potential insurance issues I had to stay and take back my signed AMA. I felt ignored by a lot of the staff. One time I went to the nurses station for pain medicine, (I was literally hunched over with back pain ) and they looked at me and told me they would get back to me when they were done figuring out a training program on the computer. Developing their computer training program was a higher priority than the pain I was obviously having. They were unable to control violent patients, leaving the rest of the patients scared and traumatized. My counselor called twice to check on me and they told her I was doing fine when I wasn’t. They also never told me she called which would’ve been nice to have that support even though I couldn’t talk to her. It really felt more like a prison facility than care facility. Groups were so hard because there were several patients while I was there who were verbally threatening, and one physical fight actually broke out between two men and I became anxious to go into the groups. A lot of the group leaders allowed the outburst to happen and people were constantly leaving groups in the middle of them to escape the chaos. They had a schedule displayed on the wall and a lot of the groups that were scheduled never happened. That left a lot of downtime with nothing to do and it affected the mental state of the patients. After discharge, I talked with my therapists and several behavioral health providers, telling them not to send their patients there. I literally felt worse when I got out then when I was admitted, I didn’t feel like I was being discharged I felt like I was escaping an unsafe environment. I want to make sure I mention that there were three or maybe four of the staff members who are exceptional, however, they were far out numbered by the staff who are neglectful. When my outpatient psychiatrist finally received my records from Miramont he told me he had never seen such poorly written reports in his life. They included lies about my history with them. They recorded that I was in their facility six different times this year, which is ridiculous! This is the only time I was admitted as an inpatient . They have an adolescent wing, and if the adolescents were treated as poorly as the adults, it would be sickening. I would never let my child be a patient at that facility given the experiences that I had. Believe the rumors you hear about Miramont as in my opinion, the 2 1/2 star rating they have is far higher than they deserve. They need to either hire more staff or decrease the number of patients allowed so that the patients they do have can get the attention they both paid for and deserve. I understand that businesses need to make money in order to stay open, but the cost in this case is the mental health of very deserving and vulnerable people. This could easily be fixed by cutting down the number of patients that are there at any one time. If you’re looking for a facility that is caring and reactive to the needs of the patients, cross Miramont off your list. It doesn’t fit...
Read morethis is the MOST honest as it gets so please take your time to read because this is my entire experienceof my stay.🙏🏼 im 13 years old, i went here twice the first time i went was a year ago and it was such a perfect experience and they were such help.
|| they NEED to make it only one kids unit again. and they also need to make unit restriction less strict? especially if the patient is getting better. ||
but i went in a month ago and when i tell you it was the worst experience i mean it. i came because i was depressed by the time i left i was in a worse state with constant derealization because of the meds they give you, they recommend meds for you and a few weeks after you will feel numb and you will not feel like youself at all.
i was having a panick attack and instead of calming me down you know what they said? they said "you either have to have this needle shoved in your arm or you have to take a bunch of pills". before i knew it there were 8 employes in my room and they all held me down (at this point i was calming down but they still chose to do this..) and they told me i had no choice then to take the pills if i didnt want to get the needle.
i was forced to take the pills and woke up 2 days later and my derealization was so bad i didnt feel real at all. they tend to force you on unit restriction (thats when you have to stay in your room and cant communicate with others if your behavior isnt perfect.)they have 2 children units. dont even think about making friends here because when i did they forced me to the other unit and i was getting constantly picked on and they were all boys.
i felt so alone and trapped. please save yourself and dont go here. they made me feel as if i didnt deserve any help and most the staff are so cold and heartless. they dont let you call your love ones if you act up. and they will make sure your life is a living hell, and all this accured for 17 days.

Read moreAbsolutely horrible. Dangerous private conversation therapy front. Absolutely not safe for BIPOC, Trans, or Queer people seeking inpatient help. We are now calling the police because it is Friday, and MBH has withheld my partners medications since their release on Monday. (Meds they arrived there with.)
Staff also forced the patient on medications without being explained what they are or their interactions, causing for seriously dangerous side effects, even after leaving. Patient asked for this information and was just told to take it, or they would be forced to, and that they 'aren't deserving' of that information.
Disabled patients were mocked, wheelchair users were isolated/locked in their rooms, people with consistent medical needs (an inhaler access, or insulin/bs checks) are all treated as if they don't exist. Left to cry, scream, beg for help. Told that if they are quiet for enough hours, they can have their needs met.
During this, MBH refused to let a transgender individual have safe or adequate treatment. Being refused safe access to their meds on site (not being allowed to take, or correctly take), constantly misgendered, gaslit, refused contact, threatened (a nonviolent patient who self admitted) with physical violence, told they wont be able to leave and no one would believe them.. Staff wouldn't communicate with the family for days, hid phone calls, hung up or fake transferred call if the patient or the family asked with patient consent.. Not to mention the doctor- will leave all your medical information out on tables for any patients to casually skim. He will also diagnose everyone in your wing with "schizophrenia" and change your answers you're giving as he writes them. My Partner was marked and treated for schizophrenia, for having 'gender dysphoria' related symptoms. Confirmed by her doctors afterwards and that was removed.
Staff told patient that if they wanted to switch beds to a different hospital for their safety, they would never be welcomed back to that facility. Implying 'how irritating it is that they are trans and make it their problem'. They then proceeded to early discharge the patient in an unsafe condition "instead of dealing with the hassle of a bed change, that honestly I don't even know how to do." -a social worker. After she and multiple family members had spoken against it.
Its worse than jail....
