Rob Wallace Park, is beyond beautiful. I am very impressed with the layout, the size of the pond, the little boardwalks and pier. The clusters of picnic tables and grill areas are placed on both sides of the pond which I think is great, for couples without children or friends that want a more intimate setting. I am In LOVE with the nature nook across from the playground. The nook consisted of a outdoor kitchen with kitchen toys, child sized seating from logs, chalk boards, a water jug to use with chalk board, several other neat attributes, a huge dinosaur nest, and my absolute favorite bit, a little free library!! I will be back again, SOON, especially to drop books off. Those should be a part of every park. Amazing! Oh, did I mention there was a spot designated for....YOGA!?!?? well, there is, complete with astro turf and a registration sign. The pond was huge and they have a food dispenser for the Ducks and geese for a quarter. We grabbed some of that and hand fed a few ducks. HAND FED! That was super cool. Our youngest was able to pet him. Planning a day trip out their again soon. To make things even more fantastic, Saturday and Sunday there is a little consession stand that serves snacks, ice cream and drinks. 100% recommend this park. It's off the beaten path there were lots and lots of people there but at no point did it feel crowded or like people were on top of you. Didn't overhear conversations, kids were nice and patient and kind to one another. Obviously I enjoyed my time here. I have been twice and this is my new...
Read moreLet me start with it is very pretty and clean. Now to what bugged me. The back lake looks beautiful if you could get to it. My husband and I try to take my parents somewhere different every Sunday to do something other than Dr appointments. Sadly most of the park is unaccessible to the handicapped. My parents are in wheelchairs and the paths are to rough with slate rocks.. The park looks like it has a very nice veterans memorial but again I could not get my parents to it. And yes my Dad served and would have enjoyed seeing it. If the park is ever made truly handicap accessible it will be a great place to go. Oh one other thing we had a picnic under the shelter. Nice view to the front pond. But bring a fly swatter with you The flies about carried my Ma away. She had about 20 flies bugging her.I ended up standing and shewing flies for her so she could...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite park in Cabarrus County. I’ve been to them all numerous times. Huge open space with trail to walk, run or take your pup on a long hike. I’ve enjoyed this park for several years as it is never too busy during the weekday to enjoy a peaceful walk through nature. Clean grounds, restrooms, fishing and a full time staff that adds to the experience. However, recently they have begun to expand to add additional picnic areas and a second playground in what was once a quiet section of the park. I understand the need to cater to more people but I feel this will distract from the quiet peaceful nature near the quarry and become more like Frank Liske park which would be a huge mistake. Otherwise, worth the trip for something unique compared to other parks...
