Beautiful Fall Vibes, Donut Win, Food Truck Fail
We visited McKenzie Farm for their Mctoberfest event and had a great time overall. It was super busy, cars packed in everywhere, long lines to get in to pay for the things we bought and for donuts. But once inside, the fall charm made up for it. There was no admission fee which was nice.
The apple picking was peaceful with no lines and perfect for photo ops and enjoying the day. We got lucky with hot, fresh apple cider donuts that had just come out when we paid and they were absolutely delicious. The apple cider slushie was refreshing, and I grabbed caramel popcorn to go.
Big downside: we waited 20 minutes in line at a food truck only to be told they had to shut down because they ran out of food right when it was our turn. Major bummer!
That said, the weather was beautiful, the energy was festive, and the free entry is a big plus. Worth visiting, just go early, expect crowds, and maybe...
Read moreThis is our number one escape/happy-place, it’s a beautiful drive up through Milton with beautiful back roads, the fruit is fantastic, it’s the most beautiful farm, it attaches to Plummer’s Ridge so you can add a gorgeous hike to the adventure (bring bug spray), we come all year for the tastiest and most beautiful: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, nectarines, apples, basil, pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, zinnias, dahlias, and the best farm fresh doughnuts this side of NH. The cashier ladies are very welcoming and seem to be happy where they work, and talking to the owner about the farm is so enjoyable.

Read moreWow, this is an amazing orchard with a huge variety of apples, berries and homemade delicious baked goods. The tractor driver pointed us to their new breed of Japanese “Shizuka” apples that are huge and incredibly juicy too. And all in all, picked a 24lb bag of multiple varieties of Apples for $28… Actually less expensive (and more fun) than hitting up the grocery store. They even accept Apple Pay too. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and eager to share their knowledge and you can tell this is a family-lived and operated orchard. Highly recommended and we will make the trip down from Ossipee again...
