Palo Pinto County Appraisal — Local services in Mineral Wells

Very disappointed in the tax protest process. Our general feeling is that the older gentleman, especially, was not genuinely interested in helping us at all, would not use any of our valuations that we brought and wouldn't even look at it saying "it's not the way we do it here". We were using 2024 taxes for comparison, and he said we needed 2025 tax values, but those were not available yet on the web site! They also had the square footage off by about 18 sq ft. we asked if they could at least correct that and take the extra sq ft off, (we brought proof) but he said it was too small of an amount to change it! He also said he "needed to end the meeting and move on to other business"... and that was it! But there was No one else in the waiting area! We feel there was a wall up already when we started and he just wasn't...

To say this whole process is a joke would simply demean good jokes. The whole process seems to be extremely incestuous. At the beginning of the hearing the chief appraiser makes a beautiful speech about being independent from the appraisal office. This is a ruse at best. I have sat through numerous hearings and have never once seen a verdict in favor of the tax payer. This board appears to merely be flunkies for the district. When the district "wins" almost every time, then you can't call this anything other than a ruse. As a Precinct chair for Palo Pinto, I can promise you that I will shake very branch, politically speaking, to get to the rot below...

The citizen review board is unprofessional and made of individuals who are not even qualified to volunteer. You can barely understand the words coming out of their mouth. They have no clue of what they are talking about. I guess they were hired on purpose to confuse the hell out of the tax payers and to discourage them from calling again. It is so sad to be living in this world surrounded by incompetent people that were appointed to make a decision on our tax bill. I felt I was living in the stone age listening to them talking. God...
