I'm not going to sugar coat this. I was excited to pull over and get some nice pancakes after a long trip, but the second we walked in, we were greeted with the scowling face of our server who gave no effort to being even remotely friendly. This place was NOT charming, it was dirty but has potential to be cute. That was until I sat down to be greeted by 15 flies (I'm not even exaggerating, I counted them). The flies were nicer than our server. Looked over to see dusty, cobweb windowsill with, surprise, dead flies. The food was so-so if even that. Pancake was eh. I don't know what they consider "fresh fruit" because I got some cantaloupe, mushy strawberries, and a couple grapes that obviously came from some container that may have been fresh days ago. The kicker was when the flies started eating us alive, that's when we got the check and bounced fast. This place does not deserve the 4.5 stars it has because this experience was actually one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. The only part I can say was good was at least the cook responded to my "Have a good day!" in a friendly matter. Other than that, I wouldn't...
Read moreI’m hopeful that the town of Mitchell is prosperous in all directions. After due diligence in seeking to acquire one of its historic places, (restaurant/overnight stay accommodations) my struggles to find current records and honest representation from ownership and all its functions was difficult to obtain. Many trips and legal services for this property and it’s needed renovations had me give an offer that I felt was fair and respective to the needs of the restaurant and guest facilities that would bring dollars to the community with a safe and healthy environment for local and visitors alike. This is my opinion only. Do your due diligence if you seek to acquire property in the town of Mitchell. In my opinion, plumbing will be your biggest challenge to keep you and your guests comfortable and safe. From my research, all is septic systems that require upgrades asap. (As of 10 years ago if not longer) Best of luck with bringing Mitchell up...
Read moreMy son and I rolled into TINY Mitchell just before 8:00 PM on a Friday night after visiting the Painted Hills. The Little Pine Cafe was the only sign of life, but the posted sign said they closed at 8:00. I asked if we could order food and said we would take it to go if they wanted to close up. Not only did the owner very graciously agree to make whatever we wanted, but she invited us to stay as long as we needed, saying, "you've gotta eat." Everything was wonderful and it's people like her and her cook who make me believe that people in Oregon as just...
