My parents lived there almost 4 years. In that time my dad died. My mother continued to live there until her death April 6, 2019, 15 months after my dad died. We didn’t give a 30 day notice to vacate until April 11, 2019. We were told we would be charged a prorated fee for 11 days into May 2019. Because of family out of the country, we couldn’t have her funeral until May 4, 2019. The week before her funeral the salesman came to the apartment & let himself in and to my surprise saw him. I knew then they were ready to get us out so they could rent her apartment. THREE days after her funeral they (sales lady) called me at 1:30 p.m. to tell me there was still stuff in the apartment. And I told her we had until May 11, 2019 before we had to vacate. She told me there had been a mixup and we needed to vacate by midnight, that same night May 7, 2019. She told me this May 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. or we would have to pay an entire months rent. The sitter & I worked until 9:00 p.m. to get everything out of the apartment That was 3 days after my mom’s funeral. Now 2 weeks later on May 22, 2019, they were moving someone new into the same apartment .The lady’s who run the front desk & support people are excellent. The food is mediocre because they can’t keep a real chef. BUT THE SALES PEOPLE ARE THE WORST. I will NEVER recommend Somerby to...
Read moreWe moved my mom from an Assisted Living Facility to Somerby Independent Living, and the whole experience was absolutely positive. Tom S. was wonderful in guiding us through the process and helping us to choose the apartment and services that Mom would need. We (my brother and four sisters) are all much happier with the personal space mom has now as well as the rest of the facilities available for her to enjoy.
One of the initial things that really impressed me about Somerby was how the people who work there interact with and treat each other. Everyone I have come into contact with there seems to have an easy-going yet extremely courteous camaraderie with their co-workers, evincing an underlying respect for each other that reassures me my Mom will receive the same respect and courtesy along with any assistance she may need in the future.
I have chatted with several of the residents at Somerby while moving Mom in and coming to visit, and they have all had high praise for the facility and the people who work there. Everyone seems so comfortable and cheery, it almost makes me want to move in...
I would highly recommend that anyone seeking a residential facility - for themselves or for a loved one - tour Somerby before...
Read moreI was introduced to Somerby last year through Elderberry Publishing, and I’m so glad I was. From the moment you drive up, you can tell this community is something special. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are always kind, professional, and eager to help.
I’ve been fortunate to engage with the residents and their families through town hall meetings, educational "snack and learns," and even Happy Hours. Every time I visit Somerby, I feel more connected to the people who live and work there. There’s a genuine sense of community that’s hard to find elsewhere.
The facility itself is impressive—beautiful, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. What really stood out to me was the wide range of activities offered. I often joke that it’s like living on a cruise ship! From a swimming pool to onsite beauticians, residents have everything they need for both relaxation and engagement.
Somerby isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to thrive. If I’m ever in the position to choose a senior living community for myself, this is exactly where...
