Black Hawk College — Local services in Moline

Last year my husband kept submitting the more info thing on the website and no one ever contacted him. Over 4 months he would call and email both locations and no one would respond. I thought maybe it was just him. For last 2 months I keep emailing and submitting the form online. Nothing. No response. It just wants me to sign up for classes. I just want to know the price of a course! This is ridiculous. He wanted to start a course and they didn’t even care enough to respond. They lost the opportunity to get thousands for him to take the welding course. They don’t care. You can email admissions, financial aid, etc. no one will respond. Why even have their emails listed then? If you request more information and insert your contact details why does no one contact you? No emails nothing. I’ve gone to 4 colleges so far in my life and this one has the worst ‘customer service’ most schools are so eager to help you so you can sign up right away and give them money for the courses. In the fall of 2014 I signed up for classes to start my future. Following my fafsa being denied I dropped ALL my classes within the same week. Black Hawk West Campus now has sent it to collections which is haunting me 4 years later. I was never contacted by Black Hawk about my debt, that I shouldn’t have incurred since I never stepped foot on their campus except to sign up and drop (IN THE SAME WEEK) to now 4 years later find I have a debt in COLLECTIONS due to their lack of communication or care. I’ve done what I can to try and figure it out but their “Policy” doesn’t allow them to work with me or it’s never the “Right” person to talk to. Advisors are hit or miss. Once I found a good one, I made it a point to always ask for her. Most of the professors I've had are good, although some are rather quirky (to be expected, I guess.) The terrible downfall for this college is some of the financial aid staff and registrar staff. They are patronizing, dismissive, not helpful at all, and have an attitude problem. It's as though Black Hawk doesn't realize that these are the first people that most students are going to come into contact with, and those same people will set the foundation for the student's first and lasting impression.
