My family has always had a German meal on Christmas Eve. This year that tradition was at risk for not happening for the first time in over 30 years because the place we used to order our stuff from online closed, and we don't have any German deli's/grocery stores nearby like we did when we lived in Canada. In a panic we started searching for alternatives. There were some online choices but nothing that had everything we needed which would have resulted in needing to place multiple orders from at least a couple of sites, and incurring shipping charges at both. We have Aldi in our town, but they also don't have everything. Then we came across Katy's Imports in Moline, Illinois. Although the store is about 2.5 hours away we decided to go give it a try. SUCCESS! We got nearly everything we wanted (plus a few extras) and anything we weren't able to get we should be able to find at our local Aldi!! The store was a bit smelly, but you can tell it's an older building. The owners were super friendly, which was an added bonus! Short of another online option becoming available to us, we now have our new go-to for our German Christmas Eve dinner and we are alllll super happy about it!!

While they have a pretty decent selection of German and other international food items, a lot of them are either expired or way past the "best before date. The prices are pretty high as well. I truly wish this place was better than it is.. just bought getman dumpling mixes for $6 each. My fault I didn't check the date... Mai 08 2025 ( May 8th, 2025). I just bought 4 of them on September 12th. $24 in the trash... my fault for not checking 😞

They do take cash and credit cards. They also have a parking lot. I enjoy my visits here. On my last visit i bought some delicious cookies.

While they have a pretty decent selection of German and other international food items, a lot of them are either expired or way past the "best before date. The prices are pretty high as well. I truly wish this place was better than it is.. just bought getman dumpling mixes for $6 each. My fault I didn't check the date... Mai 08 2025 ( May 8th, 2025). Katy's market is a wonderful place for imported meats, cheeses, chocolate, cards, jams, jelly's, mustard, candy, curry ketchup, and gift ideas. It's a local family run business. They do take cash and credit cards. They also have a parking lot. I enjoy my visits here. On my last visit i bought some delicious cookies.

I love this place, I'm also German & my family has been in the QC since the mid 1800's, the variety of snacks & food from all over Europe is amazing, if you like dark chocolate & hazelnut I highly recommend the Manner brand hazelnut wafers covered in dark chocolate 😋 so good & these Paprika Chrunchips (in a red bag), best chips I've ever had, & they're not greasy like a lot of American brands, crunchy, light, airy & flavorful.
