At a yardage of roughly 6,500 yards, a slope of 116 and a course rating of 69 from the blue tees, Windmill Ridge is an enjoyable round of golf for the average recreational golfer. Although the course originally started out with a 9 hole layout, the course has expanded to be 18 holes. As such, the course has a different feel between both 9 hole layouts.
All things taken into consideration, Windmill Ridge offers a pleasant playing experience.
"Positives" *Fun and challenging layout *The clubhouse is very well maintained and proficiently stocked *Personnel at the course have always been courteous and professional *With minimal notice [day or so], it's somewhat easy to grab an ideal tee time on the weekends on most occasions. *Very attractive pricing for weekday and weekend play [~$45 on the weekend for 18 holes with cart].
"Challenges" *Due to land availability, there is no driving range. There is a singular hitting bay of sorts directly beneath the club house which is in "decent" condition. *Green complexes tend to run on the "smaller" side. When played recently, the back 9 of the course was undergoing a large effort to restore turf to the fairways [which meant cart path only]. In fairness, in prime golf season [April - September], the course has almost always been in "very good" shape. However, given the drive from NW Arkansas, it would have been "nice" to have been alerted to the restoration effort prior to committing...
Read moreJames at the club house is very rude and unprofessional. I called to cancel a tee time. I told him they needed a message system that could allow customers to leave a message. I had to call five times to get anyone to answer the phone. He hung up on me. I called back and he refused to answer the phone. I called back an hour later and canceled the tee time. He again was rude telling me he didn’t have time to hear my suggestion. This guy has no customer service skills. I called the city administrator and he agreed that a messaging system would be a good idea. He was professional as was Brian the manager who responded to my email explaining my interaction with his staff. Hopefully my next experience with James if there is one will be more professional and positive. I’ve been playing Windmill Ridge for over 20 years. I’ve played the course several times this year and it is in better condition than I’ve ever seen it. So hats off to the grounds crew. Hopefully I can give it a better score next time, if there is...
Read moreI love love love the changes they have made to the course in the last couple of years. The new clubhouse is very nice as well. My favorite is the addition of the new 9 holes. The layout is classically designed, with rolling hills & valleys, that seem to melt into the natural landscape. As with any new course, it takes a while to mature, and this golf course is doing it nicely. I would highly recommend to quit what you are doing some afternoon, and...
