We hired this company with the vision of creating a unique, elevated BBQ-style menu for our wedding, including a mac and cheese bar served in martini glasses during cocktail hour, premium toppings, lemonade and coffee service, and a progressive flow from apps to dinner. We spent months planning every detail and were excited to offer something that felt both fun and elevated for our guests.
Unfortunately, many of those promised elements were missing. The mac and cheese bar was never served during cocktail hour, and the cocktail offerings were limited to just steak bites and stuffed mushrooms—very different from what we discussed and expected. I was also disappointed to hear that fruit and veggies, which were meant for cocktail hour, were instead served with dinner. And despite making it clear that I did not want beets on the menu, they were still included. These missed details added up, especially given the significant investment of a little less than $10,000 and the amount of time spent planning.
That said, I do want to recognize the catering staff who worked our event. They were kind, professional, and worked incredibly hard throughout the day. While I was not a fan of working with the owner during the planning process, I want to give credit to the team who really pulled through and kept things running on the day of.
Ultimately, I can’t say I would recommend this caterer for couples looking for highly customized menus or seamless execution, but I’m grateful to the staff who showed up and worked hard to...
Read moreHeard about this place recently and decided to visit same. The truck is located at the corner of Route 62 and Duncan Plains Rd NW, They were just opening when I arrived. Met one of the owners Miranda who was setting things up. It took a few minutes but we talked during that time. They have just started doing the Food Truck, they own a Catering Business (Smoke Seitz BBQ), it has been in business for around 10 years. They do a variety of meats as shown in the picture. Today they had Brisket and Pulled Pork as they have been on vacation. Got a half and half of both meats and cheesy potatoes and a drink fo $10. Both meats had a nice smooth Smokey taste to them. Meats were nice and moist. Pork was nice and stringy which made it easy to consume. Brisket was chopped up and a little chunky. You can have the meats on a bun which is optional. The cheesy potatoes were totally off the chart. Everything was homemade, it had small green and red peppers, onions in it and then baked. Could have ate a ton of these. Had a sampling of the coleslaw which was of the creamy variety. It was nice and smooth, perfectly seasoned. Talking to Miranda was a pleasure, she is a totally involved owner. She is experimenting with some new recipes. Hopefully we get some new items on the menu. You know that the business is totally dedicated to succeeding since they are just down the road from another bigger BBQ joint. Me, I will definitely be back to try some more...
Read moreI hate to do this, but I feel that I have to. I did contact the owner (Cory). Cory was wonderful all through the planning. I chose them because it felt more customized than the chains and being family owned. Food was for my daughter's wedding. I paid extra to have the food "served" on guests plates, they weren't even doing it until I noticed and said something to them. I have had (still) complaints about how the food was barely warm (which it was), mac n cheese was way over done so it was more like mac n cheese stuck together like a ball. I was never told (not was it like this at the tasting) that there was garlic and big pieces of onion in the green beans. We ran out of corn muffins. There are a few other things too but I won't list them all.
The most important part is that when I reached out to Cory I felt like he was blaming me. That is the worst part of all of this. Recognizing when you didn't make a customer happy is very important. Out of everything, that is what I am upset about the most.
Just make sure you ask A LOT of questions about the food you want.
One more thing, the meats would have been great had they been hot. :( Very disappointing and embarrassing.
FOLLOW UP. As anyone can see by the response he blames...
