Johnstown Ace Hardware — Local services in Monroe Township

Not sure who the man was that my wife dealt with last night, but she was not impressed at all. We live in Newark and she had happened to be in New Albany so I asked her to stop by the New Albany store and grab a sheet of plexiglass I needed to replace a storm damaged window in our garage. New Albany didn't have the right size, but were kind enough to seach the area and found the Johnstown store had it in stock. I told her not to worry about it and she insisted on going there to save me the trip. When she got there, she was told it was $100, as if she couldn't afford it, then the guy gave her grief about putting it in the back of our truck. Mind you, we have a Ram 2500 Laramie, so the seats are just fine to protect it from scratches. Overall, she said the man was rude and short with her, which completely throws Ace's motto out the window. Needless to say, I will not do any business with this...

Was hopeful when Ace took over it would be as good or better than before. Sadly mistaken on that front. Hours are better, but I would take Shulls over what we have now any day. Have been in three times this year and shelves half empty and staff is less than helpful. A previous trip the employee knew nothing about the store and where anything was. I left empty handed and went to Home Depot. Todays trip found mostly empty shelves again in electrical. Basic stuff any decent hardware store should have was nowhere to be found. One of the staff was in front of store chatting with someone and ignoring me walking around looking for stuff. The other employee was on back step on the phone as i left. We were in earlier this week and purchased a Weber grill. They were nice enough to assemble and deliver it us. The model we purchased was not displayed on the floor, but the associate helping us confirmed that the model we were purchasing came with the Weber ‘crafted frame’ included. We purchased a griddle attachment with the grill, and were told no additional parts were needed since the ‘crafted frame’ was included with the grill. It was delivered this morning, and did not have the ‘crafted frame’. I contacted the store to see if they forgot to include it, and was told by the assistant manager that it did not come with our model. We would have never purchased the griddle and likely would have selected a different grill, had we been properly informed. When you spend over $900, you expect to get what you are told you...
