Monson General Store — Local services in Monson

My wife and I stopped here the other day to check it out for the first time. My wife picked up a couple ornaments that were handmade by a local. She went absolutely crazy for them. This General Store not only had everything you’d need but, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We decided to change our tradition of our last day leaving Moosehead Lake and grabbing breakfast sandwiches from your everyday DD and eating them by the water.... to stopping here and grabbing some deli sandwiches! WOW... delicious! We both got Ruebens from the friendliest “chef”... these were not your every day deli sandwiches. They were prepared with care and all ingredients distributed perfectly! These two sandwiches just changed our yearly tradition forever however, we will be stopping on the way in and out next year! Very disappointing. I live in Massachusetts and was visiting Maine on a family vacation - as we do every year. We were coming back from Moosehead Lake to grab a bite to eat. This place came highly recommended. Internet was down, and none of my cards were processing. My father and my brother’s cards were working, which doesn’t make any sense. Seems like spotty internet. I had more than enough money to pay for my food. I’m a general manager of a restaurant down in Massachusetts, and I would’ve given those sandwiches to the customers on us, than let us leave empty handed. I understand the other products we were going to buy, to be put back, but you’d rather throw out two sandwiches and leave two people hungry and 4 hours away from home? That is terrible...

Our family, me and my husband, my sister and family, and our parents, have stopped into Monson General for food and snacks, during three of our group family vacations, and have enjoyed it every time. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is friendly and helpful, and the store is clean and full of lots of little gifts. The coffee was also delicious, and they have a nice selection of wines farm goods, and baked goods. Additionally, they have nice out doir dining, with beautifully maintained landscape. The surrounding village buildings are also beautiful. We absolutely love stopping, and encourage everyone to check...
