I went here periodically since they first opened. The food is good, the beer is so-so but not bad. The service however is something in and of itself. The last time (and it was THE last time) I went, the bartender/server told me and my friend that the owner "wanted our keys" so we wouldn't drive. We had literally sat down and had 2-3 beers and had been at the bar by ourselves talking about a somewhat big even that had happened this year near where he lives. At the very least the owner (who knows me) could've told us not to drive and we could have literally walked to my house which is less than a quarter mile away, and come back later and got the car. We were told that we "couldn't leave" until my friend gave the bartender his keys. I think it may have had something to do with the bar closing, or the owner having a lack of judgement on her part but there were other times I was made to feel "not welcome" in the establishment. If you want to cater to out-of-staters, hikers, and tourists - be my guest. But at least be thankful for the people who did support you...
Read moreAte here with my family Memorial Day Sunday 5/26/24. The waitress was RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. (Not Alex, she's a love and we wish we only ever had her) I don't know the Rude ones name but she had already given her notice and was clearly checked out. She got mad at us because we switched tables as the really awesome music was just a touch loud for my senior Aunt. The waitress copped an attitude, refused to serve us, even when we moved back to "Her" table so as not to upset her. Alex saved the day after the manager/cook kindly took our order. And then had a local man holler at us not to come back to Monson, you don't need our "kind" there? Even the staff was apologizing for the rude ones actions. But the damage was done. Maybe they thought we were tourists because we don't go there every day. Or because it was our first time for the season. But my family has been in that area over 200+ years. We are as local as they come even if it's our second home now. The way we were treated was inexcusible, and we will NEVER go there...
Read moreA comfortable gem of a place located on the shore of and with a gorgeous view of Lake Hebron. Dining al fresco, in the dining room or pub. Always delicious food and a warm inviting atmosphere. A place to take a deep breath and relax and refresh. Friendly attentive wait staff and a diverse clientele - locals, out of staters and through hikers in off the Appalachian Trail gathering themselves for the last "hundred mile wilderness" leg of their 2,190 mile trek from Georgia. Always a good chat or friendly game of cribbage. Two docks for a refreshing dive into the lake on a hot Summer day, launch complimentary kayaks or simply float around on over sized inner tubes. Thursday evenings find local talent (and I mean talent!) strumming and singing during open mic night. Definitely one of my...
