I was referred to Jenn at Tangles by a close friend. I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. It was very welcoming and not stuffy like some other salons I have been too. I did not have to wait for my stylist. Jenn is very knowledgeable and listened to what I wanted. She made suggestions and gave her reasons for the suggestions. She also was the first stylist to ever mention that well water can bring out redness in a blonde coloring and suggested a shampoo to use to held keep the red at bay. As Jenn was highlighting and cutting my hair, I noticed that she was the "go-to" person. All questions seemed to be fielded through her and she had the answer to every question and she handled it all with such kindness, Her willingness to help her fellow stylists was refreshing. I'm not sure if she is the manager there, but if she isn't she certainly would be a great candidate. No doubt she would do really well if she had her own salon also. I spent a year attempting to grow my hair out from a really high and right undercut and I had previously no issue with this place and the regular stylist I was going to. I had expressed to Michelle (a new stylist I went to) I was flip flopping between trimming my hair and cutting it very short. I expressed I “still liked the flow” I had on the sides, Michelle was not only very dismissive of me but was also speaking to other clients whom I could assume were her regulars ignoring me. Michelle told me her game plan was to cut a little off and keep it longer on the top and shorter on the sides. She had cut my hair until it was only half an inch long on the sides and an inch long up top. I have horrible anxiety with confrontation so I put on a fake smile and then cried in my car once I left. I came to get my haircut here as opposed to my typical barber since it’s cheaper and I know some people who work here. The second I walked through those doors the girls were arguing over who’s going to cut my hair. While they were arguing, the owner was sitting on her phone watching really loud “meme videos” that could be heard from across the salon. Once they finished arguing over who is going to cut my hair, I was rushed and it wasn’t cut evenly. I took scissors to it when I got home to try fixing it. I believe it was Tara who cut my hair, Jenna being who I was booked with initially. Why give the option to request if the employees won’t do their job and take the client who booked with them?
