I’m a local Mont Belvieu resident and used to be a regular player at this course (every other weekend, at least). Almost always well kept, not too busy, not too expensive, but has always been a quality experience until lately.
Unfortunately for the past 6 months customer service has completely disappeared. If you’re not playing one of their tournaments, good luck using the facilities. The past 3 times - in a row - I’ve come out to prepare for a tournament of my own Friday afternoon, several hours before sunset and with others already hitting, the range has been closed without notice. Ok, lame. So I learned to call ahead…
But today was the absolute last straw. Knowing all the issues I’ve been having just swinging a club out here, I made sure to call ahead at about 4:30pm. I asked how late they’d be open, and how late I could buy range balls. “5:30,” she said over the phone.
So we rush, pack the kids up (I’m teaching my two sons & wife all to play), hurry out and I’m at the counter 20 minutes early. No easy feat!
“We decided to close the range early,” I’m told. What!?!? But I specifically called ahead!? “Sorry, it was a last minute decision. We decided to do a clean pick for the TOURNAMENT tomorrow.”
No effort to realize their mistake and let us hit anyway. No effort to ask a manager if an exception should be made. No radio call out to the range boys to grab their loyal customer a couple buckets, knowing future business would be affected. “Sorry, nothing I can do.”
The pro shop attendant is a young girl with good intentions I’m sure, but ZERO clue as to how a pro shop should be run. And clearly not authorized to make any decisions on her own. I will no longer do business here. And I live 5 minutes away! ...
Read moreI hadn't been out here in forever due to the "renovation" or whatever that's been going on since however many years. I had heard they were completely deleting the old 17 and 18. After seeing what the course is NOW after all that time I'm not sure the person in charge of the entire fiasco shouldn't be fired. Why would you delete 17 and 18 and then make THE most generic and downright almost identical holes as the two new closing holes? Oh, and what did they do to #15 the Par 3? They just threw down a hitting mat and called it a day. It plays as a 100 yard shot. Yeah. I'm serious. I'm not sure how this project got greenlit. On top of that, the pace of play on the weekend is an absolute joke but what course actually does care about that these days? More and more courses don't even employ starters or marshals and Eagle Pointe is one of them! 2:20 front nine 2:40 back nine. Three groups on each hole at all times. People parking on the fringe near the greens. High schoolers running amok, hitting into groups, and causing absolute chaos.
Too long didn't read - Eagle Pointe: Used to be worth the drive. Now?...
Read moreThe course is in great shape and the green fees are fair for as nice as the course is. The issue is when we arrived 20 min early, so as to not be in a rush, we found there were no carts or range balls available. Once we started playing, considerably after our tee time, our cart died on hole #6.The guy in the pro shop was very courteous but he was definitely flustered due to the lack of resources. I expected a course to be better managed especially a course of this quality. The slow play, lack of carts and balls are the pros fault. BAD COURSE MANAGEMENT. Its the little things that people expect to be right. I understand a course needs to make money but it was obvious the course was overbooked by the amount of people coming and going. If you don't have enough carts buy some more. It took 5.25 hours to play a round which is not acceptable. I play a lot of local courses that aren't in near as nice shape that I've never had an issue with. I don't plan on going back to Eagle Pointe...
