Riverside Market gives the feeling of a HOME TOWN, privately owned family run business! And, I believe, for the most part my previous description is true. Albeit joined with Spartan Stores, as evidenced by the wide selection of Spartan Branded products, this grocery store does contribute to local causes helping with the kids and local sports teams and local adult volunteer endeavors too. This store has great selection and great products as stated above... my only reason for less than a 5 star rating is exactly that, my own reason! I personally prefer that Employees are free to "express" themselves in their own way, but that expression of self shall only be on their time! My humble opinion is that anyone working with the public should be required to keep their tattoos to themselves! I far prefer to not be assailed by "artwork" of self importance by private industry employees. Don't get me wrong, my tats are discreetly kept out of sight. But your policy allowing for customer service employees to proudly display their $2,000+ full sleeves, or their neck or chest tats just is a policy that doesn't contribute to the best customer experience.
Please understand, I'm aware my opinion is just that, MY opinion. Will I reduce my shopping frequency because of my opinions... No. Will I potentially add other facilities to my overall shopping... probably, but no grocery retailer in Michigan, so far as I know has a "cover-up" policy in place, the results of this is, regardless of where I shop... and also regardless of what industry I shop in, only limited "high end" facilities i.e. restaurants that cater to high end customers have such policies in place.
I'm sorry if I've offended, yet I feel some offence when I'm exposed to unwanted artworks. Dlo I expect change to come to local groceries because I fuss, no. Do I see corporate Human Resource policies changing to reduce customer's exposure... Definitely not! H. R. policies are leary of exposing themselves to a minimum wage (or+) employee's "discrimination" lawsuit potential because said employees are not "allowed" to "express" themselves!
Finally, as stated above... feel free to express yourselves, on your own time and not while gainfully employed, while on the...
Read moreLived in montrose doe many years and loved this place until recently when my 5 Littles well 4 and my 13 year old went heading to Riverside after receiving a voucher for Christmas dinner from the elementary school during checkout one of the Baggers wanted to give me some parenting tips so he felt the need to anyways not real keen on being judged when you don't know someone's life at all or struggles they may be going through at that time so giving a single mother of 5 parenting tips is usually frowned upon especially by a younger mail...
Read moreA very nice friendly hometown store. Used to be a Spartan store, now "Our Family" brand. Great prices and specials. Bring your kids in and they receive a few fruit as you enter the store. (Very nice treat to get away from the processed sweet treats.) Always friendly staff that treats you like family every time. Management is always willing to help or look up an item if they dont have it in stock. In-store bakery/deli is one of the very best around the entire area. Thank you for another welcoming...
