I started riding at Kenilworth a year ago, and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Now I ride 2-3X a week and it brings me endless amounts of joy. I was intimidated at first -- it's a stunning, full-service barn with a committed staff and members who ride regularly. First I started training in private lessons with Nia who is a fantastic trainer. She's super smart, funny, and patient-- we'll revisit areas and exercises where I'm struggling until I feel confident. Sometimes she'll have exercises planned ahead, and other times she'll let me choose what I want to work on, which is flexibility I really appreciate. I've since also started training with Andrea in group lessons to further my learning and it's been incredible. Everyone who works here means business (with safety as the #1 priority) but they also keep it fun. The other members I ride with are kind and willing to help when I have questions. Staff is super attentive to our needs -- I've noticed they'll replace gear as it gets worn quite often. They have a great system in place for scheduling makeup lessons when we need it. The school horses are all lovely teachers and very patient with beginner riders like me. All in all it's been a lovely learning environment and I'm only sad I didn't start riding...
Read moreI love this place. I really love this place. I ride here twice a week and I don't plan on leaving any time soon. For anyone who goes here, I'm the kid in the wheelchair that Beany teaches. I ride Bailey (the horse in my profile pic. He's an absolute doll!). Anyway, as I said twice, I LOVE THIS PLACE! I feel more at home at Redwood than at my own home! Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. They don't think I'm crazy for my dream (Paralympics 2016, baby!) or crazy at all. Gary, the barn manager and one of the instructors, is suuuper nice. My trainer, Beany is one of the nicest, most patient, and most encouraging ladies I have ever met. She's definitely the best riding instructor, out of four previous, that I've ever had. She's very accommodating to my disability and is always coming up with ways for me to have that little extra bit of help (magnetic stirrups, sticky stuff on my saddle and my butt, etc). I recommend this barn to anyone of any skill level and any ability level. If you're disabled, ask for Beany and tell her a little rolling, red-headed girl with...
Read moreDavid, Garry and their staff are professional and yet so friendly. The horses are well cared for and the facility itself is superb. They build long term relationships with their clients and horses.
They took my young mare Macy and have transformed her into a blue ribbon winner in the show ring. My teenage niece Rachele has been riding Macy for awhile now and Rachele too has grown in many ways, not just as a rider. Horsemanship has taught her to be much more responsible in other areas of her life. Such as a student in school, sports outside of riding, with friends and of course, at home.
Rachele loves giving back to her community and one of the ways she does so is by being a counselor at the riding camps. She loves working with the kids and horses. Just like her aunt. Her parents, Lisa and Curtis say Rachele could live at the ranch if they let her. Thankfully the stalls are usually full with horses.
Redwood Ranch is truly "Everything Horse!" It is a wonderful experience for...
