We have been excitedly waiting for this market ever since we got first notice that it was going in. We had cautiuous hopes of a market that could serve as an everyday grocery, rather than a step up from a convenience store, but we didn't want to get too excited.
They absolutely delivered! They have most of what we normally grocery shop for, not just an "uh oh, we need more milk" place. It's well spaced, well lit, and friendly. It's got nicely stocked produce, dairy, dry goods, frozen, and international sections. Bonus: Great ice cream and chocolate bar selection.
We didn't interact much with the team members, but they were around if we'd needed help, and they were helpful at checkout. He let us know about some additions planned (deli), and about the coffee I was getting.
We look forward to checking it out more thoroughly as we shift our shopping to...
Read moreI went in this market looking for lebanese cuisine and found a bunch of ither cool stuff... 😃 I was excited to see the variety of drinks and started taking pictures and sending them to my friends to see which ones they would want and buy them a few as "souvenirs". I was greeted by what I assume was the owner and says "Stop taking pictured". I was like "ok". Walked out. He didn't even greet me properly no As-salamu alaykum nothing. That was very rude in my opinion. They won't be getting my business, but I pray to Allāh that they are successful and this post by no means is to keep people from going there. I just figured that the owner should understand that there's more to life than just money and kindness and love and mercy along with wisdom get you all of that green people are so much after these days.
Glory be to Allāh, the Knower of all things and all...
Read moreThis place is about 70% bougie Bay area market (think Whole Foods, but well edited), and about 30% unusual and eclectic stuff from all over Eurasia: Indian summer sauces, harissa, Turkish figs, Ukrainian borscht(!?), German honey, kimchi, Japanese packaged corn cobs I've never seen before, that sort of thing. It's a medium sized space, but they have really done a phenomenal job of sourcing and purchasing and filling the aisles high, so it punches well above its weight in terms of floor space. Notably an excellent selection of beer (also wine although I did not peruse) and a good selection of coffee beans (just got Oakland's own mother tongue decaf, recommended). Owner is highly responsive to requests, I asked for a specific beer and they had it in stock in a...
